Hurricane Matthew: How You Can Help

Hurricane Matthew: How You Can Help

As one of the largest hurricanes in nearly a decade barrels through my home (my Caribbean), my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti and Cuba and with my teams and their families living throughout The Bahamas.

As the CEO of a company that operates throughout the region, I know just how devastating and extensive damage can be in the wake of a natural disaster. It’s one of the reasons why it was important to me that we, at Sandals Resorts International, created a non-profit arm that gives back to the beautiful, vibrant communities and destinations we all love so much.

For over seven years, The Sandals Foundation has been working hard to make a positive and sustainable impact in education, our community and the environment. And when a natural disaster such as Hurricane Matthew strikes, all aspects of a nation within those areas are turned upside down.

We have made a promise to the entire Caribbean region to respond promptly to national emergencies. No matter the island, whether it’s home to one of our resorts or one of our neighbors across the sea, we lobby support from resort guests, trade partners, travel agents, suppliers and other organizations to bring relief to communities affected by disaster.

The Sandals Foundation team is currently on alert and standby to assist neighboring islands. We are already communicating with our contacts in Haiti and are mobilizing relief efforts.

I encourage you to visit sandalsfoundation.org to make a donation or to get updates on our relief efforts. 100% of every dollar donated goes directly towards funding our initiatives, since all administrative and management costs are funded by Sandals Resorts International.

I also want to thank resort guests, colleagues and the social media community for sharing your prayers and willingness to help. In these moments, we are reminded of all the good there is in this world.
