Hurricane Harvey – Was I Ever Wrong!
I sat in a meeting in Houston on August 24th talking business, when Chad brought up Hurricane Harvey. He asked if I was prepared, and I casually said I wasn’t concerned and sure, we’ll be ready. Having been here when Rita and Katrina threatened and Ike hit, I just wasn’t too worried.
To my surprise, the forecast grew grim, fast. Two days later my family was lugging furniture to the second floor, in four days we received mandatory evacuation and were in a car, heading for the hills.
Wison Donates to Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
Things turned out ok for us, and fortunately we didn’t flood. But many of our neighbors, close business colleagues and personal friends did. We’ve all read of the outpouring of support, and I am proud that the Wison Group/family also came together to provide whatever support we could, helping rip out carpet and drywall, and donating to help those in need.
For some reason though, I can’t get that meeting out of my mind. How could I have been so wrong and nonchalant. For me, I’m using it as a reminder of the severity of what took place and to not grow complacent. Let’s all continue to remember those hardest hit, and continue to provide our help and support.
