Hurricane Dorian a threat to be reckoned with. . .

Hurricane Dorian continues to march toward the east coast of Florida.

As the storm passes through the Bahamas tomorrow, steering currents will likely collapse. That will make the storm path highly erratic and highly unpredictable.

Best estimates position the storm along the east coast of Florida by Labor Day.

Even if the storm stays offshore it still has the potential for copious rainfall and hurricane force winds. It's moving very slowly.

Several computer models push the storm slightly north off the coast of Florida, which would suggest a potentially destructive glancing blow.

Torrential rain and high winds would pummel the Florida Peninsula as the storm meanders up the Atlantic coast.

Flooding has become the biggest threat with these storms over the years, so Florida residents are encouraged to follow local evacuation protocol carefully!

The last storm with similar intensity that came ashore in southern Florida was Hurricane Andrew in 1992. 

However, this storm is moving much slower and has the potential for even heavier rainfall amounts as it sweeps along the coast.

Dorian is currently a category 4 storm with sustained winds in excess of 145 mph.

The storm is presently tracking west at 12 mph.

Folks in the Carolinas should be on high alert as the storm track suggests a possible encounter. . .
