HURRICANE CLEANUP

HURRICANE CLEANUP

It’s been interesting following the social media coverage of the cleanup efforts in states like North Carolina and Tennessee, especially North Carolina. I’ve been listening to various opinions. One perspective is that the federal government should be doing more, or that we should be looking into what the candidates running for office think about these issues.

At some point, maybe this morning, it struck me—while watching people help each other and hearing stories about family members stepping in—that, with millions affected, people are already helping one another. I’m not saying this to absolve anyone of responsibility, but the truth is, people are stepping up. Whether or not the federal government acts, people are going to continue to support one another.

Interestingly, I had two acquaintances from Scotland (and possibly another from the UK) remind me: ‘Isn’t that what we should do? Help each other?’ They’re right.

That’s exactly what we should do.
