Hungry Hearts......
My friend camps in the summer. In the last few years she has helped 4 little girls that live in a camper near her. The children live in the camper all year long and share it with about 11 other people. It is as dysfunctional as it sounds and it is the children that pay the price. This friend has taken them under wing and tries to help them...buying them gifts, celebrating them, buying them school clothes and supplies. Most of all she loves them. Wraps her arms around them like a gramma they'll never forget. She has been able lately to bring them to our church. To meet them after hearing their story, my heart melted. It melts every time I think of them and lift them up in prayer. I see their little faces, precious, innocent, troubled. The other day they were reaching their tiny hands up to Jesus as the music played. No, they were not play acting. Their little hearts are hungry for the love and presence of a God that they feel in their midst. Dare they hope, that they are loved and that they possibly matter? I cannot explain all that flooded my heart. Later a friend mentioned this to me also as they had observed the same thing. They know my story and all that God has done in my life. They said they prayed that they will experience what (Marty) experienced as that little child. For when we touch the hem of His garment, our lives are changed forever. I got to give them a big hug; each one of them. I looked into those little eyes only wanting love, wanting to know that they mattered. Love changes a life forever, not just a season. Who will reach the broken and hurting? We will.....We must......
