Hump Day

Hump Day

I thought I would share the note I sent my sales leaders this AM because I believe it is so important for all of us to remember to stop and reflect from time to time ...

Happy Hump Day!

Most people look at Wednesday with a mixed bag of emotions when it comes to the work week. Basically, Wednesday represents the “hurry up and get here weekend” day for most. Of course these people are your average achievers, your professionals living in a comfort zone, people solely focused on their time off because they are not passionate about their job, position, work and/or company.

What is it they say; “Love what you do and you’ll never work another day in your life.”

I love what I do and I hope each of you feel the same. People who love what they do look at Wednesday through a different lense; a lense of reflection. Take today, Wednesday, to reflect on the week’s activities, effort and results thus far. Take an audit on how you have spent your time during the first half of the week and how you plan to use your finite amount of time and energy for the second half.

What was the plan to start the week and are you on track? What 3 Big Rocks are you focused this week and what is the progress? Are you being proactive or reactive? Are your efforts, activities and plans moving the needle forward or are you in idle or perhaps stalled?

We can’t control everything and we can’t get to everything. We can’t make a difference if we don’t have a plan and work that plan with passion, focus and discipline. That said, use this AM to take inventory of the week so far and make any necessary adjustments in order to close strong and achieve your desired outcomes. In the end, your output is in direct proportion to your inputs.

Be thankful and passionate about what you do each day. Approach your position with optimism and positive energy. Have a mixture of creativity, innovation and discipline in everything you do. Don’t be afraid to take risks, make mistakes and/or stand out. Avoid procrastination, the judgement of others and distractions. Choose to make a difference by having an impact that has a residual value.

Hump Day: reflect, adjust and take action. Make it a great day!
