Humility is a Gift
Hi to everyone. It is strange as I had a bad month for the month of September. It started off great with a vacation but went downhill after that. Then I could not think of a thing to share with you. That is when I got to thinking about humility. Humility is a gift of Nature, a gift from God.
Pride prevents us from admitting we are incompetent. But are we all incompetent when we are learning. Even though I had gotten very sick last month, I was learning.
I thought about my kids and their first steps when learning to walk. Before walking the crawled or scooted as in Adam's case. Then they would advance to holding on to the furniture or mom to walk around things. Then they would let go for brief moments only to fall! Finally, one step turned into another then to walking masterfully! My babies never felt shame during all of this but proud when they started to walk. And they felt proud when they learned to do so many more things as a baby. I read at that time that there is a reason that pride does not even invade the human psyche until six or seven years of age. There is too much to learn! If they had pride it would take them years just to learn to walk.
Humility is a much-underrated virtue.
For one it makes us more endearing,
and two is it makes it easier to get cooperation
and third is it makes it easier and faster to learn.
But Humility is way different than pride.
