Humility On The Campaign Trail

Humility On The Campaign Trail

Dear Friends

I'm reaching out to share some tough news—our campaign fell short in the New Hampshire and Nevada primaries over the past two weeks.

Despite our best efforts—numerous town halls, visits to multiple counties, a successful debate , a POLITICO feature , a Las Vegas feature , and amazing local teams—we placed 4th with less than 1% of the vote, trailing far behind Joe Biden's 89% in Nevada .

Experts will tell you this was foreseeable, given our late start and minimal name recognition in both states (plus competing against an incumbent President). But even with predictability, failure stings. I write to you humbly, as a candidate who didn’t meet expectations. I’m sorry if I've disappointed you.

As a rookie campaigner, I made numerous mistakes during these past few months. Someday soon, I'll share these in detail—some are humorous, and a few are just painful. The journey of being a rookie again has humbled me deeply. It’s hard for me to share the humiliation I felt on election night in New Hampshire, finishing behind the guy who wore a boot on his head during the first debate . (But I am proud of my performance in the second debate and 4th place in Nevada out of 10 candidates is respectable). Despite the tone of this email, rest assured this isn't a concession; I've decided to continue this quest a bit longer, fortified by the texts, emails and DMs I’ve received from many of you cheering me on, and helping me get “conscious capitalism ” and “new collar talent economy ” on the national radar.

Entering politics is a call to a higher purpose. My goal has been to amplify the voice of the people, and I hope I'm serving adequately in that way. During this campaign, I’ve heard directly from hundreds of people living in far different conditions than myself, and its changed my opinion about the priorities of the working class, about the importance of revitalizing unions, about how to help Black Americans, about why Trump voters love Trump, about how to bring us back together as a country. I’ve heard it said that humility is the art of bowing gracefully to the wisdom of imperfection I actually quite like this dance with vulnerability—the campaign trail is unveiling to me new things about my place within the larger frame of humanity.

The campaign trail is testing me, exposing vulnerabilities and strengths. I choose to view this moment not as a surrender but as a resilient acknowledgment. This journey extends beyond the first few primaries, and I intend to continue exploring my purpose in the political realm, especially because I keep meeting really interesting people with far more experience than me (Governors, Mayors, organizers, pundits). One thing my Quaker faith has taught me is that greatness resides not in the loud echoes of self-praise but in the humble whispers of shared humanity. As I move forward to Super Tuesday and beyond, I will aim to navigate with a just heart, a kind spirit, and a walk guided by my enduring commitment to keeping it real.

Cheers, Jason

P.S. Allow me to acknowledge with gratitude the dedicated team tirelessly working to convey this campaign’s vision. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by such professionalism and loyalty, and by all of you whom I count as friends in this journey called life.

I really admire the path you have taken Jason and that you and your team are not giving up. I believe if your message has the ability to transform lives for the better, then this needs to be shared visually and continually online to rally support. Whatever may be the outcome, you will have positively impacted society and that is something to be proud of. ??

Jason know that you are succeeding in expanding the conversation in a very difficult election with two candidates that make the vast majority of Americans feel that they have no options. Regardless of how the next few weeks play out, I feel sure that this is just your opening round
