The Humbling Experience

Sometimes in life, I feel really sad and low and then something happens, I meet someone or hear a story and think to myself, wow..thank you Lord for protecting me from that.
I remember how easy it was to get my first job in Dubai and the luxury of life in the Middle East, or how I stood in -20 degrees, covered in snow, outside the foodbank in Toronto, waiting for my number to be called and wondering, what the heck I was doing here in Toronto?!
People say, those are scars of our journey. Had I not gone through that, I probably would have never appreciated many things in my current life. I would have not had the passion to help those humans going through similar situations or determination of making sure that I can help as much as possible, I will make things better. Had I not experienced my own children fighting with their disabilities of autism and dyslexia, I would have never stood up for those youth that are going through invisible disabilities or advocate for them.
I don’t think so!! I look around me, I see people who are just as passionate to make a change and then people who are trying everything possible to block those changes or stop those people. Change is imperative. Where there is passion, determination, heart, love, care, and most important, the stubbornness to not accept defeat, you can never ever be stopped.
My friend and mentor, Andrew Cosolo calls it my humbling experience. I teach my students, that when someone says, you can’t, look them in their eyes and say, watch me!!
I am doing the same now. I have recently joined an amazing non-profit charitable organization called JobStart in Toronto, where I have met some of the most passionate and beautiful humans, who are working extremely hard to make a difference by improving the professional lives of other humans in need.
JobStart offers employment and settlement services to people from all walks of life, from youth to seniors from internationally educated and experienced professionals to people with disabilities.
As a famous quote states, “Don’t give to get. Give to inspire others to give.â€
Can I inspire you to give to this non-profit? Giving is not always about money. Let me know how you would like to give back? If you want to join me in my journey to make a difference. Who knows, perhaps your support, can bring a change in the life of one or multiple families?
I would like to share with you, my new home – JobStart:
