The Humbleness of Rata Tata

I am a big fan of Ratan Tata. I started my career with Telco (now TATA Motors) as a GET in the year 1995. I had the opportunity of being a part of the Task Force which was involved in the launch of LPT 2516, the first Tata Motors vehicle with Tata Cummins engine. The grand launch ceremony was to be held in the General Office premises of Telco sometime in March 1996 (I guess my guess is correct).

The function was about to begin. We as young GETs and as the members of the task force had the privilege of standing on the road in front of the General Office through which the dignitaries would pass by to inaugurate the new vehicle.

The function started and I could see Ratan Tata coming. I was just staring at him. He just passed by me and he had taken a few steps. I said, "Good morning Sir". He, without hesitation, came back a few steps and said "Good morning". This incidence has been engraved in my mind and heart even till now. This episode taught me the values of the Tatas. I always narrate this incidence of mine to anyone who talks to me about the Tatas and my stint of 17 years with them. People always see me as a TATA alumnus and regard this with high esteem.

Later in the evening, we performed as the GET band and he was humble enough to have his photograph with us.

You can see me standing just to the right of Ratan Tata. I have used Ratan Tata and not Mr. Ratan Tata as "Ratan Tata" brings the closeness.
