Every day you wake up with the alarm you set, put on your clothes, maybe have your breakfast and head straight to work. During the day, you complete the tasks you have programmed in your calendar one by one, maybe you develop a business later, or maybe you give a motivational speech to support your team.
The last week has been very stressful and busy. You have practically solved a serious problem and the operation has been little affected by it, that was easy peasy! The team you formed last month is now the best in operation. Ranked first in all KPIs. I think you deserved the bonus this month.
Before I forget, you got promoted this time last year, right? You worked hard, you did your best, you deserve it. And here you are!
But.. something is missing. The whole thing is not enjoyable at all! You think you're successful, but you don't feel that way.?You say you are good at your job, you are experienced and you always use it in the best way, but at some point you always seem to want more.
Were the things that you thought you succeeded really like that? The crises you've been through, the problems you've solved, maybe just part of your job. Does doing what is expected of you make you a successful person? No, I'm not telling you that you didn't do your job right. In fact, you need to hear all the positive compliments you say about yourself from your team, your manager, and your co-workers. The dissatisfaction you are feeling right now is due to this.
Instead of thinking that you are successful about yourself, you need to get people to talk about you as a good manager, a good teammate, a successful employee. To do this, you can review your daily routine, change your perspective and think about what you can improve in the operation. You can focus on how to complete the tasks expected from you faster and more sustainably, and you can develop methods that will contribute to your team instead of an already running operation.
Do things differently, be noticeable. Always have new and logical ideas. Focus on what you say you can't do. Don't get lost in the operation, do the things everyone does in your own way, always look at yourself from the outside and find something to do different!
Do not forget that there are many people in the organization who do their job like you. Everyone thinks they are successful, but very few people can mark someone as successful, if you want to be one of them, stop thinking about yourself and try to do noticeable things.
If you can get people to say what you think about you, your actions will always be remembered and that's when you'll feel successful.
Here is a quote from Blaise Pascal, “Do you wish people to think well of you? Don't speak well of yourself.”
