Humble, Challenge Seeker to Essential Craftsman
Sheila Mikulin Psychologist / Integral Professional Coach
I’m relentless about one thing: your success. With a blend of behavioral science and battle-tested strategies, I help leaders like you break through barriers and lead with clarity.
Working with Executives and Leaders, they often bring unique topics that they want to explore.
?Here is an example of a CFO of a large company.? He found that he struggled both professionally in personally with his topic.
?There is a saying, "The way we do anything is the way we do everything."
?Often my clients find that the work we do professionally often carries over into their personal lives.
?Bill is a great example of this.? As we explored his topic, he was surprised to realize how this "carry over" was true for him.
Coaching Topic:
What:? To be better able to pause and celebrate my successes so that I honor and embody my growth as I bring it with me to my new endeavors.
Why Important:?
The Way of the Humble, Challenge Seeker?
As long as I am continuously working on a project, I will have a sense of purpose and I will be successful, and others will think well of me.
?How has served you: ?
???? Much gets done.?
????? Projects benefit the community.?
????? Feelings of purpose.?
????? Challenges are met and the community is served.?
???? Consistent feelings of worthwhileness.?
???? Provides many opportunities for flow state – challenge meets level of skill at sweet spot.?
Limits:?
???? Ability to put finishing touches on current projects.???
????? Ability to be present and honor accomplishments.?
???? Ability to fully embody success and bring it forward.?
???? Has never experienced a ceremony of completion – so what was left unsaid and/or unattended to??
???? Closes down the “excellence” component of doing one’s work/craft/job.?
???? The Humble, Challenge Seeker, is neglecting the final stages of current projects so they often lack the completed look of excellence.??

????? He concerns himself with “being humble” in a way that disowns his own value.?
And here is the New Way that we worked through in a 5 month coaching engagement:?
The Way of the Essential Craftsman?
As long as I am fully present to my craft, I feel accomplished and of service giving me purpose and significance.?
???? An embodiment of new levels of skill both practically and emotionally.?
???? A greater sense of purpose that is grounded – never rushed.?
???? Being in flow more often and never feeling rushed or “lacking.”??
???? Realizing my deep worth untethered to the “doings.”?
???? Bringing forth a deeper and more expansive presence to be a servant leader.?
???? Balancing a passion for history and tradition with a drive to innovate.?
???? You have come to realize that You are your craft, as an artisan – it is not necessarily what you do, it is who you are.?
???? All of the “doing” has become deeply grounded in the “being.”?
???? By being motivated by Mastery, you find you naturally slow down your pace and drop into the focus of the task(s), having no concern about what is next.? You are truly present to the aliveness of your project.?
Developmental Objectives:?
In actively working in both of these areas (the ‘past-based’ way of being and the ‘future-based’ desired outcomes) unprecedented results are attained in very short periods of time.
This method or way of working with a client is based on the principles of Subject-Object Theory in human development; by working with a client so that they explicitly and objectively come to see her/himself, the client is able to shift quite quickly and radically into healthier, more productive, deeply satisfying, and more expanded ways of being in their life.
The ‘Ah Ha’ moments are powerful, but more poignant are the capabilities developed by clients to shift long-standing patterns that have felt immovable.
I would love to hear what you find interesting about my methodology.
