Humberside Fire and Rescue Service introduces its Fire Cadet Programme

The Service has launched a Fire Cadet Programme, which is designed to provide young people with an opportunity to engage with their local fire service, explore potential career paths and experience life within a uniformed organisation.

At its launch event on Tuesday 12 September at Scunthorpe fire station, Head of Prevention, Sarah Wilkinson said: “This has been a fantastic evening to celebrate the hard work and dedication by our cadet leaders and instructors and our cadets who are working towards completing their Fire Cadet Award 1.

“This programme supports our continued work towards fire safety education and awareness, as well as supporting the next generation to help keep our communities safe.”

The primary goal of the Fire Cadet Programme is to enhance core skills such as communication, teamwork, and initiative among its participants. Cadets are expected to be reliable, committed, and open to stepping out of their comfort zones in a safe environment.

In return for their commitment, cadets will gain opportunities to boost their confidence and resilience while representing their Fire Service locally and nationally. This program will also enable them to become active contributors to their communities, aligning with thousands of other young people across the UK.
