Humans...

Humans...

A telepathic race of beings, well known throughout galaxies for their peaceful nature, lived in a world where thoughts were always transparent and secrets non-existent.

Discovering a dirt planet called Earth and its inhabitants, the human race. They learned humans were a strange species, full of contradictions and complexities that were hard to comprehend. To the telepathic race, humans were terrifying, borderline psychotic monsters. Observing them just walking alone, wondering what would it would be like to jump off the bridge, or leap into traffic, or just punch a random person?

It all started with the concept of "intrusive thoughts." Since the telepathic beings could read the humans' minds, they were always alarmed by the random urges that crossed their brains. To them, humans seemed like they were constantly on the verge of violent and self-destructive acts, and some unknown force was holding them back. Every human had them but almost the sane ones would never act on them, they're still there but the humans had learned to ignore them.

Then there was the issue of grudges and dark imaginings. The telepathic race noticed that humans would hold onto petty grievances and harbor deep-seated anger towards others, and they had a hard time controlling their emotions. The telepathic race would perceive humans as barely controlled psychopaths who were waiting for just the right moment to snap. Recent events taught them, there is always one person in any group of humans who is so stressed by the little things at least one other person is doing that they wish they could strike out. Hit them, shout at them, swear like a sailor, or destroy their stuff, but they held it in and tolerated and said nothing to maintain the peace.

Finally, the telepathic race observed humans' ability to compartmentalize their thoughts and feelings. Humans could go through stressful situations and still maintain their composure. They could separate their emotions from their thoughts and continue to function in a high-stress environment.

To the telepathic race, humans' compartmentalization was confusing and hard to understand. They couldn't comprehend how humans would experience so much stress and yet continue to function without breaking down.

Both fascinated and terrified by humans, they marveled at the complexity of the human mind and its ability to adapt and survive in even the harshest of environments. However, they also feared the unpredictability of humans and the potential danger they posed.

In the end, the telepathic beings decided to observe humans from a distance, content to marvel at their complex nature from afar. They realized that while humans may be terrifying to them, at the same time they are also a fascinating species worth studying and learning from.
