Humans Becoming Robots, and Robots Becoming Humans

Humans Becoming Robots, and Robots Becoming Humans

Instead of robots becoming more human, I'm concerned about humans becoming more robotic.??

The talk about installing?"humanity" in robots?solely exists because we view them?as labor-saving machines,?like?in the Russian sci-fi fiction?novel?"Robotnik," which?fyi,?translates to "slave." We may be ready to cross any line if we could prove ourselves dominant.?To maintain a competitive edge over each other, humans have a proclivity for pushing the envelope in the pursuit of "better" solutions. But mostly, we see that people are building technology without any regard for?consequences, and no one eventually accepts responsibility, which makes me question?the?wisdom of the crowd.??

The ultimate achievement in the field of robotics is to have a robot that can think like a human being. If we ever had robots that looked and acted like humans, it would be fantastic. But who would really be in control at that point????

Still, brushing the?anthropomorphic?machines'?conversation?aside,?the other side of the equation is what has me stumped. Exactly?when in the process?do?we relinquish our humanity? Technological advancements justified as "for work" or "disability assistance" might rapidly lead to justifications for augmentations that aren't essential.?

People are?increasingly?using?unnecessary and harmful chemicals?in the name of?enhancements,?such as ADHD medications?consumed?by college students to improve memory retention and concentration.?To supplement sexual prowess, healthy young people pop Viagra pills like candy, while athletes use a variety of performance-enhancing drugs to meet performance pressures. Currently, we are consuming something to amplify results.?What would happen if?we took it?a few steps?further??What if we?fuse?with machines or software? What if we were able to download our memories from our brains, or maybe take an insulin pump and turn it into a?weaponized?dispenser for war??

The real issue here isn't augmentation at all. Although it's obvious that the military and private industry would benefit from such advancements,?they are founded on the erroneous idea that humans are machines.?What we build reflects our ideals and therefore carries with it the burden of accountability.?As a result, our actions speak volumes about ourselves and our intentions. What is our intention when we use resources to send a car into space? Is it a vanity project or are we doing something meaningful??A car was once just a product. Since we invented cars, we shaped cities for them and made laws for them. Millions of people are now dependent on this product for work and everyday life.?Could we imagine life without it?

“We shape our tools, and thereafter our tools shape us.”
Marshall McLuhan?(written by?John?Culkin)?a worldwide legend in media and technology theory.?

Aliens' forklift loader?suit for Ripley or Starship Troopers' Power Combat Suits are good examples of when this technology may be useful, but how long until it is abused??Would there be a?time limit on how long you can stay in?such?a?suit before you start to lose strength??If you could work nonstop, how long before you're forced to labor permanently??Cars created drivers, fuel system operators, and garage workers.?One product and?its?material reality?has?shaped human reality.?Imagine the next version of your auto-correct not only completes your sentences, but also thinks and speaks in your voice.?What would the applications and complications be??

Cause if your skin was soil
How?long do you think before they'd start digging?
And if your life was gold?
How long do you think you'd stay living?

Lyrics from “Gold” by Interference???

Many?studies conducted in the 1970s found that watching television had a negative impact on people's analytical and cognitive abilities.?Fast?forwarding?to the year 2000,?a?research?claimed that using Google made you dumb.?When?does the human brain's energy-saving obsession turn?into laziness??When?did?we?become?hardwired to download content with a click, so much so that we could not imagine life otherwise??

“..the?problem is choice.” The?Architech,?The?Matrix movie?

Today we have choices which we could never have imagined. Earlier, we had the choice of watching a channel on TV. Now we have the option to choose the content directly. That completely changes how we consume content and interact with media systems, and how media is marketed and financed. The entire industry undergoes?a paradigm shift, which has a direct impact on our lives.?The future holds choices we will make that we cannot comprehend right now.?

Would you prefer a robot to do the majority of your housework for you? Or would you rather wear a custom-made mech-suit that would let you work on your tasks for hours at a time with extra strength and precision? There are "driverless cars" that can drive you to all your destinations, so you can sleep, read this article, or just look at the scenery while you're on the road. Or do you think you'd rather always drive with your hands on the wheel??

Image of Sophia the robot

Sophia the robot, in 2017 made history by becoming the first android to be granted legal citizenship?in Saudi Arabia.?She even has a credit card.??

Watch her sing with Jimmy Fallon here: https://youtu.be/G-zyTlZQYpE?t=414

Is it?possible to own a "machine" that is as intelligent, self-aware, and emotionally wired as a person,?or?would this be a form of slavery? Eventually, will robots have to be given the same rights as people??Can you imagine a future where robots (androids) become so advanced that they can't be told apart from humans at all???

At some point in the future, will robots have a "soul" just like humans??Will human society be able to change quickly enough to keep up with a?future?so?technologically advanced that?a robot and a human can fall in love and have android-human children???

How long before we have to hand up authority to the?very Gods we created, having forfeited our humanity in the process???

What do you think? Comment, email, or write an article. :)?
