Humans & Art
Before the advent of language, mankind was at a loss for words and connotation. He was overwhelmed with emotions that had no means to be expressed, except through gestures and subtle actions. A vanguard of the time laid his hands on the blood of a fresh kill. With his hand dabbed in the scarlet liquid, he felt disgusted. He tried to brush it off onto a nearby rock. What followed was a stroke of brilliance. That was the first moment he stroked the maiden canvas upon which was birthed the phenomenon that we now call art! He loved it, he adored it; he was awed by it. The independence of being able to vent out his suppressed emotions was too captivating for his meagre mind. He continued to stroke further till he caught the perfect image of his favourite meal onto the basalt. Though these were thin strokes that roughly silhouetted the animal he ate when the God above was merciful, yet his joy at the ability to communicate this was unfathomable. He, for once, had promoted himself onto being a creator of sorts instead of being merely a creation like any other. Henceforth, his dreams marvelled his magnificent creativity!

10 个月Also amazing is the fact of the persistence of art to remain such a large part of our world for 40,000 years and counting. When people ever challenge the 'usefulness' of art I tell them that whatever they proclaim to be more useful is but a child to art and does not have the right, nor the ability, to put itself above it.

4 年Why did you dovetail the advent of language with human & art? It’s brilliantly written, overall. The train of words, one after the other, made perfect sense. You should add more to it, I’d suggest.
