Life is a mosaic of experiences. Once we start accepting that every experience is a stepping stone moving us, shaping us in this journey that we call life, it is much easier to live that experience – no matter how good or sad it is and then start actively seeking out our good experiences. We spend so much of life on worry, regret, pain, and sadness. Obviously, some of this is inevitable and necessary. But it’s only by gathering this tray of life experiences, we realize the ones we should be focusing on, the ones that rejuvenate us. We learn to find the little things every day that make us smile. I believe every experience I have had in life, has helped me become who I am today. It has defined me.

Life is also a mosaic of relationships – a constant stream of people moving in and out. Some will move along with you for a longer time and some for a shorter time. Some will elevate you, make you happy and content and there will be others who will pull you down, let you down. Life is not fair all the time but it’s still good. Again, once we start accepting that every person is helping you become who you are, and as you learn and grow from these relationships, you are able to spend more and more time of this short life with the people who you truly want to be with. And for me, my relationships matter the most. The other part of the equation is that we also leave our mark on every person we meet and it’s up to us to decide what that mark will be. One little act of kindness could spark a chain reaction of positive actions and won’t it be great if I can spark a chain of positivity every single day of my life?

Sometimes, I take a step back and think about how infinitesimally minuscule we all are in comparison to this universe that we all call home. The Universe has been around for centuries. I am on a planet one among the billions of its current inhabitants and the reality is that my existence span is going to be much much smaller than this Universe. But like the universe, I am beautiful and complex and constantly changing. And I have this beautiful life and it is up to me to fully live it. I believe that the more I can help somebody else’s life to be better, the better my life will be!

And one of the initiatives that I am driving is to empower everyone with knowledge about Artificial Intelligence(AI). AI is going to have a huge impact on all our lives and today it’s only a privileged few who understand the concepts and it’s those few who are shaping all our futures. “Humans for AI’’ is a non-profit organization that I started earlier this year to really democratize AI so that everybody can understand it and feel empowered to incorporate AI into their domains with new AI products and solutions. This is also a way to bring more diversity into tech, which is sorely lacking today.

I find inspiration everywhere, all around me. I lived in Bombay for a year, and I would take took the local train after work. There was so much inspiration around me. Women who had commuted one hour to get to work just completed a full-time day job, and now on their one-hour commute back, would clean and cut vegetables in that hour so that they could go home, cook food for their family and spend time with their kids. They didn’t complain about it, in fact, they were completely happy as they found a way to make the best use of their time. They could have been unhappy about that long commute, but they didn’t. They went home happy. Didn’t somebody famous say – “Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect? It means that you’ve decided to see the imperfections and still be happy.” I get inspired by the simple daily experiences in my life to become a better me.

Life is too short. I will only walk this life once, I might as well make the most of it while I am here.
