What I'm Reading

Speaking of keeping it human, that’s the focus of my all-time favorite series, Dungeon Crawler Carl. Ok, now hear me out on this one. Yes, the title is ridiculous and the cover art may make it seem silly. As someone who is a voracious reader of all genres, I can confidently say that these are hands-down some of the best books I’ve ever read.

Carl, a resident of Seattle, is outside trying to catch his girlfriend’s prize-winning cat, Donut, when the world collapses in on itself. Those that survive have two options, duke it out for survival on the surface of the planet, or, enter the dungeon games taking place under the earth’s surface. Carl and Donut’s adventures are unexpected, humorous, and touching. What I really love about this series is how despite the murder and mayhem, Carl resolves to be the best human he can be. Despite conditions designed to dehumanize him, Carl resolves over and over again that "they will not break me."?

The message to me is clear. No matter what life throws your way, choose to be the best human you can for yourself and those around you.
