Humanity Reimagined: Toward an Anthropological Singularity

My perspective on the Singularity is both thought-provoking and methodologically observational - of an ongoing ancient process, I elsewhere called Synthetic Cycle - suggesting a symbiotic relationship between humans and technology, rather than the often-discussed dominance or replacement of human capabilities or even of the human species substitution by machines-derived speciation.

This viewpoint emphasizes an enhancement of human potential through the integration of artificial intelligence and other technologies, leading to an evolution of ethics, decision-making, and problem-solving capacities. Below, I elaborate on this concept, supporting my techno-philosophical orientation.


The concept of the technological Singularity is often attributed to the mathematician and science fiction writer Vernor Vinge

He articulated the idea most famously in his 1993 essay titled "The Coming Technological Singularity: How to Survive in the Post-Human Era." In this essay, Vinge posits that the acceleration of technological progress has been leading towards an inevitable point where artificial intelligences surpass human intelligence, leading to an explosive growth in intelligence and an unpredictable transformation of society.

Further development and popularization of the concept were carried out by futurist Ray Kurzweil, particularly in his 2005 book, "The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology." Kurzweil argues that the Singularity will occur as a result of converging technologies—namely genetics, nanotechnology, and robotics (including AI)—which will ultimately lead to exponential growth in technological capabilities and a profound transformation of humanity.

I'm convinced the epochal distinction between artificial and natural is related to a lack of cultural and juridical maturity in defining the accessibility to any synthetic tool, Ai included, and its choral and harmonious design and usability: as it is true for all human creations, since the beginning of time.

It includes the computational singularity, expanding anthropology to its inextricable ecological and even cosmic expectation horizon.
  • Computational Singularity: Often referred to as "technological singularity," it's a hypothesised point where technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting primarily from the development of artificial superintelligence that exponentially exceeds human intelligence: this state is simply reassuring our logical potential that the capacity of our extended "sensitive being" to design autonomous and highly adaptive components of our existential and social systems - operating practical and experimental tools included.

Ultimately, the scenario I propose—where AI-embedded hybrids represent a new evolutionary path for humanity—suggests a profound shift in both the mechanism and the meaning of human identity and social organization.

This would be a true paradigm shift, suggesting a future where human intelligence and artificial intelligence are no longer distinct, but rather co-evolving, novelty-driven, co-integrated aspects of a new form of life.
