Protracted war is the term used by Maoist, (Mao Zedong, Chinese Civil War) for the strategy of long-term armed revolutionary struggle.?Well, it’s upon us with the Ukraine-Russia war, Chinese aggression against Taiwan, North Korean saber rattling, political partisan divide, Covid suffering, global economic struggle, inflation, deranged supply chain, disconnected and isolated workers, and loss of faith in leadership…? Yup.? Suffering will be protracted.?Not good for humanity.?Hopefully, the enduring spirit of humanity will find ways to overcome pain and suffering as seen throughout history.? Let’s pray that humanity’s struggle to find peace and stability will prevail once again.? Soon.

1.????Ukraine-Russia War Protracted…?????????????Cold winter will freeze many without fuel and electricity in Europe as well as other parts of the world.?Many will suffer the pain of hunger.?The war, economic destruction, job losses, and loss of faith in humanity will loom for foreseeable future…?Not good.?Russian President Vladimir Putin set the stage for a protracted war in Ukraine, telling officials it “may be a lengthy process,” while downplaying speculation that a new round of mobilization could take place in Russia.?Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned a nightmare scenario could befall the capital if Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure continue.?“Kyiv might lose power, water, and heat supply. The apocalypse might happen, like in Hollywood films, when it’s not possible to live in homes considering the low temperature.” ??

2.????COVID Destruction Lingers…?????????????Long Covid is distorting the labor market — and that’s bad for the U.S. economy.?Long Covid is affecting how Americans work. Some are unable to work at all due to symptoms of chronic illness.?The overall labor impact of long Covid is tough to quantify. Estimates suggest hundreds of thousands to millions may be out of work, at a time when there are historic levels of job openings.?It is likely underpinning dynamics contributing to inflation. Meanwhile, lost earnings might translate to reduced household spending, or mean that patients must lean on public assistance programs funded by taxpayer dollars.?But, The House passed an $858 billion bill to fund the Defense Department, sending it to the Senate.?The measure includes a provision to scrap the Pentagon’s Covid vaccine mandate for active-duty service members.?Biden is expected to sign the legislation despite his support for the vaccine mandate.

3.????Global Economic Outlook 2023?????????????????Global recession, fears, uncertainty loom…??The global economy continues to be buffeted by multiple shocks, and businesses should prepare for continued volatility in the years ahead. A prolonged period of disruptions and uncertainties notwithstanding, there is still opportunity.??The global economy is weakening rapidly, with the US and Europe forecast to experience recessions in the very near term and China to suffer significantly weaker growth in 2023. ?Perhaps, hopefully, a global recession may be avoided, but the world will probably experience notably below-trend growth of 2.1% in 2023.?And, beyond 2023, the global economy will likely return to its slowing trend growth rate (2.6%) relative to the prepandemic pace (3.3%). The aging workforce across many mature and large emerging market economies will have a material dampening effect on the growth of labor and capital. As these quantitative drivers of growth slow, productivity increases will become more important drivers of output and revenue growth.?
