Why saving snails won’t save your health. Or the planet.
Save the snails, save dolphins, save cows, save chickens, save pigs, save fish and oceans — food activists, supported by food companies capitalizing on the message, are focused on saving everything, it seems, everything but humans and human health.
Wait, what? What do you mean by that?
I’ve been begging the most known voices in nutrition and food, who have thousands and millions of followers, who’ve written books, and spent most of their lives, researching human health and nutrition, researching this hot topic of producing/providing “healthy” food for humanity, arguing about food policies -people, who I genuinely believed (until I asked), must know the answer to a very “simple” and important question: what does a sample/simple whole food meal plan, that supplies all the essential nutrients we know of, look like?
Isn’t that an obvious and important question?
The question, we need to answer, before focusing our resources on producing some food over the other?
…what does a sample/simple whole food meal plan, that supplies all the essential nutrients we know of, look like?
Isn’t that an obvious and important question?
The question, we need to answer, before focusing our resources on producing some food over the other?
Why don’t we quit food policies for a while, and simply look at our nutritional needs as human beings? Why do we assume, that a lion is a predator, who needs to eat animal flesh (Some vegans still doubt it of course), but a human-being can survive on anything? Preferably, for a lot of vegans, on grass like cows.
You know, a lion can eat vegan foods too, don’t you? We are not the ONLY omnivores, that can sustain an OK life on whatever. For a while. Look what we feed cows these days! And they still produce food for us — even though their health and the quality of what they produce is highly questionable.
Vegans shout at us, “No abuse of animals! We can all eat plants and heal our bodies and the planet! Let’s all go vegan and most of our problems will be solved!”
But no vegan knows, what long term effects of their diet are. No reported centenarians were vegans. Humans were never vegans (by choice) in the whole history of humanity. From all the research, that is coming up every day — a lot of essential for our health and longevity nutrients, like vitamins A, D, K2, Omega-3s, to name very few — you can’t get them from plants reliably and efficiently, ensuring the absorption rate and proper usage by the body. It wouldn’t be even a question in pre-supplements and 24/7 supermarkets world — should we eat plant or animals? BOTH!
You eat your meat (and other animal products), or you die much sooner and more painfully. And our modern day science confirms that — most of the people in the modern world are malnourished (They do not consume enough vital for our long term health nutrients), and most of the people have degenerative diseases. And it happens earlier and earlier in life — earlier and earlier we introduce more processed, nutrient deprived foods into the diet of our young generation.
Vegans! Before asking all of us to go vegan to save the planet and the animals — do you even know (aka have any data) confirming, that long-term vegan diet without supplements is even sustainable or possible? Do you know, that kids die without certain animal nutrients in their diet growing up? Do you suggest, we all supplement with poorly absorbed and researched supplements, and hope it all works out miraculously?
Or, people producing all the fake meats, saying it is all better for us. Have you looked at nutrition profile of good quality animal foods compared to your fake impossibly wrong burgers? Taste is an easy fix — but even that you can’t get exactly right. But what about nutrient content? Can you guarantee, you are not leading the world to a health disaster? You can’t! And why is meat better? Simply because it has been working for us for thousands of years, nourishing our brain to grow to the size it is now, turning us into dominant species on our planet, allowing you to even have a chance to think about fake meat. There is no doubt we evolved eating animal products. There is a LOT of doubt about this fake meat experiment and its safety for us long-term.
Back to our question. I asked about the diet, that will supply all the essential nutrients we are aware of, I asked the best people out there — nobody answered. They said it was too complicated.
I guess, I’ll have to create it myself, and that’s what I plan to do by the end of this summer. It’s not gonna be perfect — we are still very ignorant, when it comes to nutrition, but it’s gonna be better than what we have now — nothing and nonsense.
When I tell people, I’m a healthy eating/healthy lifestyle coach — people ask me, if I’m a vegan.
This is broken.
Human Nutrition Focused Food System. The one, that also makes sure, it’s sustainable long-term for our planet, since it’s our home, we don’t have another one — we’d better make sure this one lasts.
Let’s get a bit more practical now.
After all, you read this far — I got to give you something useful to thank you for your time and attention!
Something to work into your life to improve your health, your mental and physical performance, your energy levels and the joy you get from living your life to the fullest, right? Reading with health benefits — that’s what my blog is all about!
This week, creating video content, I focused on helping you to get easily from food the vitamins, that seem to be crucial to our health, vitamins, that most people are deficient in and do not get from their diets, vitamins, that are so important, that our body even learned how to store them in our fat tissue and in our liver for the times, when we don’t get them — they are very important.

Some vitamin facts from other sources, more or less accurate:
“Vitamin A, also called retinol, has many functions in the body. In addition to helping the eyes adjust to light changes, vitamin A plays an important role in bone growth, tooth development, reproduction, cell division, gene expression, and regulation of the immune system. The skin, eyes, and mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, throat and lungs depend on vitamin A to remain moist. Vitamin A is also an important antioxidant that may play a role in the prevention of certain cancers.
Vitamin D plays a critical role in the body’s use of calcium and phosphorous. It works by increasing the amount of calcium absorbed from the small intestine, helping to form and maintain bones. Vitamin D benefits the body by playing a role in immunity and controlling cell growth and may protect against osteoporosis, high blood pressure, cancer, and other diseases. Children especially need adequate amounts of vitamin D to develop strong bones and healthy teeth.
Vitamin E benefits the body by acting as an antioxidant, and protecting vitamins A and C, red blood cells, and essential fatty acids from destruction. Research from decades ago suggested that taking antioxidant supplements, vitamin E in particular, might help prevent heart disease and cancer.
Vitamin K is naturally produced by the bacteria in the intestines, and plays an essential role in normal blood clotting, promoting bone health, and helping to produce proteins for blood, bones, and kidneys.”

“What Is Vitamin K?
Vitamin K was discovered in 1929 as an essential nutrient for blood coagulation (blood clotting).
The initial discovery was reported in a German scientific journal, where it was called “Koagulationsvitamin” — which is where the “K” comes from (1).
It was also discovered by the dentist Weston Price, who travelled the world in the early 20th century studying the relationship between diet and disease in different populations.
He found that the non-industrial diets were high in some unidentified nutrient, which seemed to provide protection against tooth decay and chronic disease.
He referred to this mystery nutrient as “activator X,” which is now believed to have been vitamin K2 (1).
There are two main forms of vitamin K:
Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone): Found in plant foods like leafy greens.
Vitamin K2 (menaquinone): Found in animal foods and fermented foods (2Trusted Source).
Vitamin K2 can be further divided into several different subtypes, the most important ones being MK-4 and MK-7.”
~ Vitamin K2: Everything You Need to Know
“Vitamin K2 has a wide range of underappreciated health benefits:
It prevents calcium from going into all the wrong places and makes sure it gets into all the right places. For example, it keeps it out of your kidneys, where it would cause kidney stones, and keeps it out of your blood vessels, where it would cause heart disease, but helps it to get into your bones and teeth, making your bones strong and your teeth resistant to cavities.
It helps you make insulin and remain very sensitive to insulin. This means it helps stabilize your blood sugar, protects against diabetes, and prevents the metabolic problems that often arise as a consequence of obesity.
It promotes sexual health by helping you optimize your sex hormones. For example, it increases testosterone and fertility in males, and it helps bring the high levels of male hormones found in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) back down to normal.
It helps improve exercise performance by enhancing your ability to utilize energy during bouts of physical activity.
It protects against cancer by suppressing the genes that make cells cancerous and expressing the genes that make cells healthy.

Quite important nutrients, don’t you think?
And when today you learn about the foods, where you can get them, you might very well find out, that you haven’t been eating these life-essential nutrients for quite a while. As many people don’t. Are you surprised still, our society is literally collapsing with so many degenerative diseases?
Before checking out my short and very practical videos, A, D, E, K eating guides, think about a couple of other important points.
The reason, you don’t hear much about these foods, and the importance of eating them regularly (besides all the food policies and the money involved) — our body is very efficient with them, storing and using them with caution, our body is also very resilient, and the effects, noticeable effects, that you can feel and track with modern medicine, they take some time to develop, months and years, and then you just get the pills for some serious condition, or you have to get your kidney stones removed — the ones, that you very possibly may have gotten because you weren’t eating enough liver and K2, that helps your body to put calcium, where it belongs, instead of your kidneys.
Not getting enough of these vitamins is like not taking your car for a regular check-up. It’ll still run. Until it won’t anymore. Collapsing, because of many minor issues, causing one BIG trouble, that needs to be addressed immediately, and regular check-ups won’t do it anymore — it will cost you.
That’s the second point. Not everything you can find in plants can be efficiently used by our body, that is different from all other non-human organisms. When some vegan tells you, “You can find everything you need to eat in plants” — refer them to this, one of many, scientific paper on Vitamin A and poor absorption/conversion rate of many plant-derived nutrients, compared to the animal versions.

And then people ask me, what about supplements?!
Most of the supplements on the market are sh*t. That’s just the truth guys. There is much less regulation in supplement industry, that you’d like to believe. Most of the supplements are actually toxic to us in some way, and interfere with normal functioning of our body. But even good quality supplements are not as well absorbed and metabolized by the body as real whole foods — food synergy works here, meaning nutrients in whole foods come in a “set”, and for reasons and governed by the laws we are yet to understand, they function that way better, and our body knows how to deal with them — taking what we need, eliminating the rest.
Take vitamin A.
“Symptoms of vitamin A toxicity include dry, itchy skin, headache, nausea, and loss of appetite. Signs of severe overuse over a short period of time include dizziness, blurred vision and slowed growth. Vitamin A toxicity can also cause severe birth defects and may increase the risk for bone loss and hip fractures.”
But that only happens with supplements of Vitamin A! That’s how those studies were done! With supplements! There is not one registered case of vitamin A toxicity from whole foods. That tells us something, doesn’t it?
Here are my short and super practical videos for you to learn, how to get yours A, D, E, K2 from foods — with less food and more nutrients, absorbed in the best.
Remember guys, whole foods of the best quality, eating a variety of plant and animal foods — this is still your very best solution to prevent any long-term health hazards and degenerative diseases. And, our food system, or going vegan will not take care of your nutrition. It’s not even on the list of their long or short-term goals — I asked. It’ll change. But till then — make better choices to help it happen faster.
Thanks for reading guys!
