Human Nerd Writes Curious Article On The Internet, Hopes Algorithm Approves

I've been lucky to have a wide variety of experiences as a working person over the last twenty years (it's freaking me out that I've been working that long already). Some people are like a laser beam, hyper-focused and specialized in one direction. That's not me. I'm like a big dorky searchlight scanning all over the place (although I'm pretty conscious of light pollution, so eventually, this metaphor might break down a little when considering the astronomically inclined work I've done.)

Don't get me wrong, I love digging really deep into things, and I'm not satisfied with mere surface-level experiences. Basically, I'm a broad-spectrum nerd (hence the cover photo with my fellow professional nerds Rorry Brenner and Matt Wasowski , bosses of Nerd Nite ).

I know this is LinkedIn, and folks love to talk about professional drive, innovation, efficiency, and various work-flavored buzzwords. But, if I'm honest, the trait that actually characterizes my natural professional style and direction is curiosity. I'm hungry to know how the world around me works, whether it's fundamental curiosity about nature, technology & innovation, the arts & humanities, or the stories of all the fascinating people I've had the pleasure of interacting with over the years.

One of the reasons I'm thriving in my current role with Rivers Agile is that we do a huge variety of work. I interact with brilliant people who work on fascinating projects and products, and I represent a few dozen of the smartest people I've ever met. Every day is a little different, and I'm always learning something.

Not only has my curiosity led me to have countless fascinating experiences, but it has also enhanced my ability to connect to others in a way I didn't always expect. No matter who you are, at least one of the things you're passionate or curious about will overlap enough with something I'm passionate and curious about to have a genuine human interaction.

What are you curious about these days? This is not a rhetorical question, I am looking to find more genuine connections on this platform, and I want to have a conversation. You can DM me, and if you're in Pittsburgh, we can even meet up for coffee, lunch, or a drink to talk about whatever it is that lights up your brain. Food, the arts, travel, tech, science, birdwatching, crossword puzzles, woodworking, ice hockey, leptons, fusion jazz, hydrogen fusion, whatever you like. I will buy coffee for the first five people that respond. Let's get curious.
