Human-I-T Introduces Responsible Tech Management Certification, Presenting Inaugural Award to Disney Studio Technology

Human-I-T, the nation’s leading digital equity nonprofit and a trailblazer in electronic refurbishment, today announced its "Responsible Tech Management” Certification, a groundbreaking program aimed at raising the bar for data destruction standards. It recognizes businesses that meet Human-I-T's rigorous NIST 800-88 compliant data destruction requirements while contributing to sustainability and digital inclusion.

Human-I-T started its "Have a Heart" Initiative to ensure secure data destruction alongside a comprehensive certification process. Proper data destruction is critical for corporations handling sensitive information to protect customer data, trade secrets, proprietary processes, and more. Companies can also reduce their carbon footprint and support digital equity by donating end-of-life technology for refurbishment, ensuring devices are redistributed to underserved communities rather than sent to landfills. The "Have a Heart" Initiative represents the next step in responsible technology management, empowering organizations to protect privacy while contributing to a more equitable and sustainable future.

The first Responsible Tech Management Certification has been awarded to Disney Studio Technology, a leader in innovation and compliance standards. Disney Studio Technology leads the charge in the United States for sustainable, socially impactful change powered by their end-of-life technology.

By meeting compliance standards under key regulations, including HIPAA, GLBA, FACTA, and FISMA, participating organizations not only protect their data but also increase their sustainability and social impact. These organizations are given the "Responsible Tech Management" Certification, which they can display on collateral – showing clients, customers, and stakeholders that they adhere to the highest standards of data protection and sustainability.
