On Human Genome & Stories

The primary difference between animals and human beings is not about physiology, psychology, or consciousness, it is about what we human beings are made of.

People are made up of stories.

Yes, stories. It is part of our Human genome.

Whatever we are, we are because of some story, what we create is a story, and what we leave behind is also a story. Everything we do, everything we believe is reality, is but just a perception of either ourselves or someone else. A story we hear and connect to becomes us. We become part of a larger story. We play our role in the story without realizing what the whole story is, but we play our part - sometimes truthfully, sometimes not so much. There is no option of not being part of a story. No exception. Our society, our culture, even our generation, is but a story. A narrative of someone.

No one is unbiased, everyone is judgmental based on the product of the story they connect to. Our reactions, our behaviors, our relations, our very existence are based on the story we hold on to, the story we make part of us. Same stories, same words, same tones, mean different to different people based on their own story - and sometimes the same person gets different interpretations of the same story based on the phase of his life.

We all buy and sell stories. Every time we interact with someone, there is an exchange of some story. Once you understand that, and guess the stories your audience is made up of, latching them with the story you want to sell becomes easier. And once the resonance sets in, the connections forge new bonds on the story bridge.

Should one look beyond narratives and stories? Is it even possible? Well, that is another discussion!

I would read your comment as "Our life is a story written by us - no co-authors/proof-readers/publishers". would like to qualify with "Like any other story, the emotions invoked in the readers are subject to readers, but the onus of content is purely on us".

As Shakespeare states : All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players.?They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts.

Rather than a story, we are actors/characters in a huge play
