Human Experience Management (HXM): Redefining the Future of Work

Human Experience Management (HXM): Redefining the Future of Work

Since the global pandemic, I have seen a paradigm shift in the way we work. This rapid evolution has seen organizations recognizing the importance of putting people at the centre of their strategy. ?

At Atlas , we see this as a holistic approach to managing employee experience. We look at this as an experience-focused approach that values the employee as more thanjust an asset to the business. By calling out the human experience management, or HXM, we are leading a shift to creating workplaces where employees feel valued, motivated, and engaged. Ultimately this leads to better outcomes for both the employees and the business itself. ?

Over the past few months, ?we have unveiled our new tagline: For People, By People. This embodies our belief in the needfor genuine human connection and experience in every aspect of the HR and HHCM landscape. So on that note, it’s timely that this week’s article will focus on how Atlas can help organizations manage this change in dynamic. ?

Human Experience Management (HXM) is rooted in the idea that employees who feel empowered, supported, and connected to their work will not only perform better, but will also stay longer, contribute more creatively, and promote a positive organizational culture. This can be a lifecycle approach that enhances each touchpoint they experience. ?

This approach is more human-centric than traditional ideas of Human Capital Management (HCM), which focus more on the practices of managing people such as hiring, payroll, benefits. With HXM, these practices are enhanced by new tools of the trade that are based around employee well-being, development, and work-life balance. In essence, HXM deepens the focus from pure operational efficiency to optimizing the emotional and experiential aspects of work.?

If we look in depth at HXM, we see it is built on five key pillars. This fosters a culture of employee-centered leadership and care. Let’s dig into these: ?

  • Employee Engagement and Well-Being: The heart of HXM is ensuring that employees are engaged and their well-being is prioritized. At Atlas, we ensure both our clients, their teams, and our own internal employees have an emotional connection towards their work and the company, which we believe translates into higher productivity and satisfaction. One of the key ways that this is delivered is through the local, human-ledsupport that we offer in the 160+ countries we operate.?

?This is all well and good, but what does it mean in practice? Well, by incorporating HXM principles into their HR strategy, organizations will reap the benefits that positively impact both employees and the company. Don’t just take it from here, here are some of the benefits include:?

  • Higher Employee Engagement and Retention: A positive employee experience results in higher engagement, which directly correlates to lower turnover rates. Engaged employees are more loyal and less likely to seek employment elsewhere. The key for Atlas is the ability for our customers with international teams is we give them the access to fast support from local experts in their language and time zone, while also enjoying premium benefit packages that are globally equitable.?
  • Improved Productivity and Innovation: When employees feel supported, valued, and inspired, they are more likely to go the extra mile. This often results in increased creativity, productivity, and a willingness to contribute to innovative solutions.?
  • Enhanced Employer Branding: In the age of social media and employer review platforms, an organization’s reputation as a great place to work is more visible than ever. By focusing on HXM, companies can create a work environment that attracts top talent, boosts brand reputation, and enhances the company’s competitiveness in the job market.?

  • Holistic Employee Development: HXM focuses on the entire employee journey, but at Atlas, we pride ourselves on giving our employees and customers the power to manage their own working lives, including self-service onboarding, expense management, and mobile apps for work on-the-go. This not only benefits employees personally but also enhances organizational agility as businesses can adapt more easily to market changes with a highly skilled workforce.?

Great, but how do you start transitioning to Human Experience Management? This requires a shift in mindset and strategy across the entire organization. Here are some steps organizations can take to implement HXM effectively:?

  • Listen to Your Employees: Open, transparent communication is critical to understanding the needs and expectations of your workforce. Regularly conducting surveys, holding one-on-one discussions, and gathering real-time feedback helps you gauge employee sentiment and identify areas where you can enhance their experience.?

  • Invest in the Right Technology: This is not a sales pitch for Atlas, BUT tools that offer real-time insights, feedback mechanisms, and advanced analytics are essential to implementing HXM. Companies should invest in platforms that enable HR teams to personalize experiences, automate routine tasks, and measure the impact of their efforts. The Atlas HXM platform is a single touchpoint to navigate an entire world global expansion and management.

  • Foster a Culture of Inclusion and Purpose: To truly make HXM successful, the organization must promote a culture where employees feel connected to the company’s mission and vision. This includes nurturing a sense of purpose, ensuring diversity and inclusion are part of the fabric of the organization, and celebrating achievements and milestones.?

  • Focus on Leadership Development: Leaders play a key role in shaping the employee experience. By offering leadership training focused on empathy, communication, and people management, organizations can ensure that managers and executives foster an environment where employees can thrive.?

  • Prioritize Employee Well-Being: Integrating wellness programs, mental health resources, and flexible work policies can help ensure employees feel supported both inside and outside of work. This holistic approach to well-being helps reduce burnout, absenteeism, and disengagement.?

Human Experience Management is poised to become the cornerstone of successful organizations, as we move future into this digital age.? We have seen the shift to a new world where remote and hybrid work models are now the norm, and where employees increasingly seek meaning and fulfillment from their jobs. I believe HXM offers a way to create workplaces that are not only more productive but also more humane.?

We now can use HXM to redefine the future of work, creating environments where people can bring their best selves to work every day and feel truly engaged in what they do. By putting the human experience at the heart of workplace strategy, organizations can build a more resilient, innovative, and successful future.?

Atlas has a long-standing reputation of being a leader in HXM best practices, delivering the best experiences to both our clients and their talent through a human-led approach to global workforce management. To learn more about what we do at Atlas in this space, have a look here ??
