The Human End of the Leash

I'm working on two courses simultaneously at the moment: "The Puppy Blueprint" Course and "The Human End of the Leash."
The Puppy Blueprint Course is a course I'll be working on over the next year as it's following Ronin through his first (critical) phase of life (as well as offering other educational components). If you're pre-registered, btw, the workbook and his first month with us has been released.
The Human End of the Leash will be loosely based off the upcoming book ("The Human End of the Leash: Dog Training's Missing Link"), and will be covering all the things underlying HOW and WHY we...
??get stuck,
??block, self-sabotage, and resist,
??run, avoid, and escape,
??get locked into certain habits, patterns, and behaviors,
??play small and shrink,
??ignore ourselves, and perhaps stay in relationships and circumstances we don't belong and/or have outgrown,
??procrastinate, make excuses, and don't show up fully,
??chronically hurt and ache in our bodies,
??expect the worst,
??self-limit and self-restrict,
??cope with, numb, and anesthetize it all,
.....and how and why ALL of this matters when it comes to our dogs--- and any form of training.
Bringing greater understanding to why we say, do (and not do), get triggered or activated, think, feel, etc. in certain ways is powerful, powerful stuff.
We cannot ignore the part we play in dog raising, training, equipping, and development. Like it or not, we're one of the most influential and impactful, and also one of the most neglected and unspoken to, ingredients. We're also the ingredient no one wants to look at or talk about.... because it's the hardest, most uncomfortable, and most challenging. And... we don't like hard. We don't like the uncomfortable. We don't want, yet another, challenge. This is when our "protector parts" flare up... which always comes through (in various forms) in training.
Whether dog raisers or professionals, it behooves us to be in touch with all of this.
Through our own healing, we better serve.

Through our own healing, we better guide, way-show, and support.
Through our own healing, we trust and are better trusted.
Through our own healing, we realign with truth and release fabrication.
Through our own healing, we better show up in our authenticity.
Through our own healing, we find peace... and also restore it.
Through our own healing we begin to represent someone our dogs (and, if a professional, our clients, too) feel safe, secure, and comfortable looking to for their cues, guidance, directives, and how to feel about every event and situation.
Having the courage to drop in, investigate, discover, realign, understand, navigate, and work through.... is THE most important work we can do. It impacts everything and everyone. Every role we play, every space we fill, every encounter we make.
"Trauma" is a topic most will shy away from... yet no one is exempt from in the human experience. It shapes how we think, what we believe, the words we speak, how we feel, our responses and reactions, habits, patterns, behaviors, how we interpret and perceive.... and there's a gift in it all.
All of my traumas have directed and fueled my sense of purpose. They've been my "why's" behind what I do and how I do it. How I serve.

Short, sweet, and I hope it speaks to you.
