The Human End of the Leash: Dog Training's Missing Link

Writing this book, "The Human End of the Leash: Dog Training's Missing Link," has been a laborious undertaking and riddled with all the things. I sincerely cannot wait to release it to the world.?
Our end of the leash impacts their end of the leash (the dog's) far more than we know (and are willing to accept). And this incredibly influential ingredient often goes unaddressed and unspoken to by many industry professionals.?
If we're in the business of dogs, we're also in the business of people.
Whether it be training, boarding and care, walking, rescue, etc... we're in the business of people.
And how we communicate, relate, interpret, connect, teach, etc. is greatly reflective of our own work, and all?we bring to the table (our filters, perceptions, stresses, unhealed wounds, insecurities, fears, etc).
If we don't do our own work, we'll never be able to connect with people. And if we can't connect with people, there's no way we'll be reaching the dog.
On the flip side of the equation is the client - the dog's caretaker and guardian.?How information is received. How he or she takes instruction (and what they do with that instruction; what's their level of follow through? Do they procrastinate? Do they expect "the work" to be done for them without their involvement? What's their level of accountability?), and also what he or she represents to the dog (anxiety? nervousness? softer energy? reactive? fearful? overly assertive?).
When it comes to behavior, there's far more than meets the eye; and most of what's driving it is unseen, un-acknowledged, and remains unaddressed (which is why "results" in training will only go so far and last for so long).

The Human End of the Leash. YOU. Me. Us. This work is the most important work of our lives; and, try as we might, it's unavoidable. The same lessons in the form of challenges will continue to show up in different outfits until they're finally faced, accepted, and learned.
It takes courage, love, faith, grit, and grace. Getting comfortable with the uncomfortable, and finding the certainty in the uncertain.
But it's the most beautiful work we can do... and absolutely ripples out into the world in various capacities.
Whether through the mentorship program and/or the book,?you?are THE most important project of your life-- and are worth every ounce of your own investment.
With Love,
K.
