Human Design Energy Themes That Would Make Great Heroes - A Veteran's Day Homage

Saying 'thank you for your service' this Veteran's Day feels inadequate.

As I contemplate what it must mean and feel like for a person to make that huge life decision to volunteer to serve their country, I'm struck by the different qualities and characteristics that must be required, or innate inside a person, to even be able to do that.

As someone, myself, who hates being told what to do, who would probably mouth off to the sergeant and get sent to the brig, and who'd most certainly hide, crying, in the fetal position in the face of impending combat, I am particularly grateful for the kind of drive and courage others have, who actually carry the will and strength from within to serve.

On behalf of us wussies, then, I really do thank you for your service.

Given my current line of work and lifelong fascination with what makes people tick, I've given some consideration to the kinds of energetic traits that I can imagine might show up in a military service person's Human Design chart, if I were lucky enough to be able to offer them a reading.

One could certainly have all kinds of different elements in their chart; there are, after all, 9 Energy Centers, 64 Gates, 36 Channels, more than a dozen celestial bodies with particular placements, and nearly 200 possible Incarnation Crosses, and each human has some different and unique configuration of those elements.

It's also certainly possible that any given solder has none of the traits that I mention below. Likewise, I'm sure there are other themes I've failed to recognize here that my colleagues could suggest that would make one person braver, or more into defense structures, than another.

Nevertheless, here are a few energy themes that strike me as ones you might find present in the charts of our honorable soldiers.

(My father, who served in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, has the 7-31. I'm not sure he'd have enlisted without at least having a little bit of this Alpha energy in his makeup.)

Without further ado, here are some Human Design Energy Themes I think would make for a Great Hero.

Profile Line 5 - The Heretic / Universalizer

  • Making things easy & accessible for the rest of us
  • Likeable, easy to get along with
  • Looked to by others as fixers and saviors;
  • They know how to do, and are uniquely capable of doing, many things
  • We project onto them a 'be my hero!' vibe, and they get satisfaction out of fulfilling that (generally)
  • Love to come to the rescue to be a resource/support for others
  • Naturally ready to serve others, sometimes at the expense of serving themselves
  • Resourceful, known by their people as the Go-To-Guys/Gals

28 - 38: The Channel of Struggle

  • Always ready to fight for what's right
  • Stubborn by virtue of needing a challenge to avoid boredom/listelessness
  • Knows the easy way out is not a road worth taking
  • Searching for meaning
  • Attuned to time; pressured by the sense of time running out
  • Perform well under pressure
  • Healthiest when pushing themselves
  • *May not always be willing to acquiesce to authority, but will always provide the spirit and courage needed

7 - 31: The Channel of the Alpha

  • A design of natural leadership and influence
  • Revered by your people, team, colleagues, community, etc.
  • Excellent at spotting patterns and strategies that work, and communicating those effectively to the team
  • Know that they must represent the values and will of their people
  • Typically carry the skills needed to be an advisor while also being charismatic
  • When tuned to the rhythms of their people, can be extremely efficient & effective
  • Have gained mastery over a particular area of expertise; others take note and naturally follow

Defined Sacral Center - A Generator or Manifesting Generator

  • Have the innate ability to generate energy from within that allows them to work, build, go, do, produce, and keep going
  • When tuned into the sensations of their Sacral response signal, they know in their gut when something is a 'yes'
  • Reliable 'Boots on the ground' energy
  • Can see and know what needs to happen in order to carry out another person's idea
  • Have the energetic capacity to 'Get 'er done'

Splenic Authority - Deeply attuned to survival in-the-now

  • Instinctive knowing what is 'right' and safe in this moment
  • Have a powerful connection to their innate awareness
  • Sense impending threats before others do
  • Keenly aware of their environments
  • 'animal instincts' for keeping self and others safe

Defined Heart - Willpower for the good of the tribe

  • Tribal energy
  • 'Ego' in the sense that it's about preservation & protection
  • Brings about the idea that "what's good for me is good for my people"
  • They know what they value, and they know they’ve got nothing to prove
  • Energized by sheer will
  • Drive and motivation that's filled with 'heart'
