After talking to numerous HR managers, I sensed one key frustration: impatience – not willing to invest in time and effort to cultivate talents?
I can resonate with this. It is like investing in “research & development”, it takes time, effort, and money, but the world today - time moves too quickly, can’t catch up with changes.
One of the key reasons why “Agile” era came in about 20 years ago; it’s the same way why “mind-mapping” era came in more than 40 years ago – “mind-mapping” is about the study on how intelligent people think; whereas, “agile principles” is about the study on why people get things done so efficiently and effectively.?
Ultimately, it is about the IQ and wisdom. High IQ brains think intelligently and effectively by maintaining a structure (mastering how things branch out), whereas wise brains register the best ways and principles that produce optimal outcomes.?

Nonetheless, one thing is lacking, beside IQ & wisdom, it is the human touch - EQ. Human brain will be at “empty” state once the “fight or flight” mode is triggered, i.e., the emotion or stress chemicals are released. EQ is the ability to stay calm by not triggering the release of emotion / stress chemicals, the ability to care and empathize, and the ability to think logically and strategically under all situations.?
How could you have high EQ? I now recall a lot of young people say: Older in “age” does not mean you are better or more matured.??AGREE, but now I also know that when you are younger, you definitely do not know life better. For example, I consider myself as a high IQ individual, but in a hindsight, I don’t think I could avoid any mistakes I had made during my 20s, 30s, and 40s. Things that I firmly deemed right, in a hindsight, I laughed. My point is, EQ is not to be said, it’s to be emanated. It is the outcome of life and who we are in action – if you are in your 30s, you may be able to resonate a little bit by recalling your life in 20s???if you are in your 40s, you begin to see my point and can resonate, but still not fully yet.
When I was younger, I believed in explaining and convincing, but now, I am speechless – because I know now, if you don’t see it, you don’t, it takes time. It does not mean I don’t explain, I do, but I only explain once, comparing to those days, I explained repeatedly to make sure you would understand – this indeed, became “pushing or forcing”, and being seen as “aggressive”. EQ is the outcome of understanding what life is and what human nature is.
To excel in Human capital management demands the most intricate ability of understanding life and human nature. Like betting precious stones, the seller will have to do the selling, but more so, the buyer needs the skills & capability to read the precious stone before cutting it. How good your reading is? After that, how good are you to polish this precious stone to bring out its value and to let this stone shines brightly?
