Human beings with unmet needs?

TRANSFORMING your relationship with grief, trauma and adversity, so you can live a life of CREATIVITY, JOY & COMPASSION
Indeed we might ask the question " Why are there so many human beings with unmet needs?"
People who are lonely are at risk of being depressed. People who perceive they have no control over their activities of daily living are at risk of being depressed. People who spend no time in the natural world are at risk of being depressed.
We have become the loneliest society in human history. We are no longer close to anyone. We used to band together and hunt and create. We have disbanded our tribes.
We ingest junk food and take on junk values. Junk food has become AA for consumerism. Johann Hari says junk values are like KFC for the soul. Our psychological needs are not being met. In his TED talk he shares a story of a cow that became an antidepressant. In that story is a lot of sitting and listening and being present. We would do well to mirror what happened in that story ...which is in detail in the video!
Are social prescriptions part of our way forward? I think so!
You can get a complimentary copy of my e book "ANTIZAC - A joyful prescription for the unhappiness epidemic" off the front page of my website...
I wrote my own prescription 20 years ago following a series of losses over a 4 year period. I disintegrated.
My re-integration began when I found belonging in a speaker group and made meaning of those losses and found joy where there had been none.
We have so many around us now with unmet needs. So many have lost jobs, and feel a great uncertainty about where things are headed. There are sinister implications feeding that uncertainty and doubt. For many that is hard to manage.
As a leader you have before you an opportunity to lead with head and heart from this point forward. The reality of Covid may well have been over-estimated, however it has brought us into a fear that you can help dispel !
You can help your people and those in your circle to regain confidance, to feel supported, and most importantly to feel understood! There's an empty chair that waits for you to occupy it! Any uncertainty being displayed by your people is a sign that their needs for belonging, and making sense of the future is not being met.
My work this last 20 years has been delivering specifically into this space. I can support you wioth coaching and facilitation of Workplace Wellbeing programs online small groups or one to one. My intention is to be fostering connection, creativity, grief, empathy, humour and conscious leadership!
