Human Anatomy for Animators
Doesn't the computer handle the anatomy for you?
I remember when I worked at Disney, way back when they used to animate with pencil and paper, I was asked a similar question by a studio executive.
I was one of the first computer animators at the studio (they called me the CGI guy). The meeting I was in was running late, and I excused myself saying I had to attend my life drawing class.
But you use the computer; doesn't the computer handle all of the drawing and anatomy for you?
Of course, today, most of us understand the importance of understanding fundamental anatomy. Knowing how a character is 'put together' can really make the difference in nailing your poses and giving the Illusion of Life.
With that in mind, we are publishing a series of articles on "Anatomy for Animators".
The first article, by guest writer Cassandra Ward, has just been published:
The Human Skeleton and Muscles
