The human advantage
Original message Seth Godin received from his building's management company:
The version he got from ChatGPT when prompting it to "rewrite for humans":
Seth's own version:
As seen above, ChatGPT's version may be "good enough", but stopping there is also a surefire way to achieve mediocrity.
In my last article for Modern Analyst I write about how to leverage ChatGPT to improve our work—and what remains our "human advantage":
Luckily for us, our capacity to combine deep thinking and analysis with compassion and empathy will remain a rare and sought-after competency. And if we keep using AI tools as a booster to make our strengths even stronger, we’ll continue to be unbeatable at “bringing insight and guts to interesting problems.”

I've been wondering: Do people use chatGPT and other similar devices because they are lazy? Or because they are fearful that their personal communication will cause problems and ChatGPT will make sure the message is objective (or it gives the message sender something to blame if it doesn't send the right message)? Or is it just that we have lost the ability to communicate at a distance? No one writes letters anymore? And emails are fading away. Should we just give up and let our AI avatars communicate for us? Create a wall against emotional upheaval, hurt feelings, misunderstandings and so forth? I used to write letters, and write long hand (and parse sentences as well -I am really old). I am not bemoaning the loss just wondering why, from a human perspective, it happened.

11 个月Heh. Out of curiosity, I took a "clickbait riddle" that someone found on Facebook and posted to Reddit a long time ago, and asked ChatGPT. Unlike many people on the thread who pointed out the ambiguity of the question and said "the answer is between 0 and 6, depending on how you interpret it",? it confidently responded "0 eggs".
