??Alcohol, in its various forms, is a TOXIC substance that can cause destruction in the body.


A moderate but regular alcoholic consumption may seems harmless at first glance. In spite of that, a closer examination??? reveals varieties of detrimental effects on our health and well-being.

  1. Liver damage
  2. Heart disease
  3. Pancreatitis
  4. Increased risk of certain types of cancer

It is the alcohol that causes harm, not the beverage (World Health Organisation, 2023)


Even moderate intake can have negative impacts on our immune system, making us more susceptible to infections and illnesses.


Additionally, alcohol acts as a diuretic, causing our bodies to loose a lot of water thereby leading to electrolyte imbalances.


What has the World Health Organization (WHO) said about this?


The WHO classified ALCOHOL as a Group 1 carcinogen, indicating its established link to several types of cancer, including liver, mouth, throat, esophagus, and breast cancer (World Health Organization, 2020).
