Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a good start. As always, here is a quick look at a few things I'm tracking at the intersection of power, deals, trends in emerging tech, and media/entertainment through a pop culture/hip hop lens. This is fuel for your insights and strategy to better reach GenZ and Millennials. Here we go!
1) If you want to see me in action via the content series I created for my Web3 client, Filmio, full interviews from SXSW are starting to be uploaded here. In the meantime, here are a couple of shots from social clips from P. Frank Williams about his docu "Freanik: The Wildest Story Never Told" and the Hulu/Disney execs who greenlit it. I designed this series to give an insider view about the storytelling scene so that those who leverage blockchain to create communities in a new way to drive stories would have inspiration and access. Always think about best way to engage and connect even when it's all about emerging tech.
2) I recently read a piece in Bloomberg that stated, among other things, that Joe Rogan's podcast has about 14.5M subscribers, and how it was absolutely "crushing" so many other outlets. But it occurred to me that we never really talk about other forms of measurement. Clearly, all 14.5 don't listen at the same time, nor do they listen to every podcast. What is the difference between value in communal time viewing (i.e. a cable news broadcast at one clear moment in time) vs. the Joe Rogan vibe vs. cumulative, collective, real-time live experiences such as concert tours. It's definitely not the same in terms of impact and immediacy. While I'm def not a fan of the creepier side of what tech will be able to do (like measure pupil dilation in correlation to how excited you are when looking at an object or video), there is something to emerging tech helping us be able to measure emotion and impact in various settings while engaging with various content, especially for Gen Z and Millennials. My prediction is that we are going to start moving further away from mere impressions and start to even categorize level of impressions. Begin thinking about this now, especially as it pertains to entertainment content!
3) SO excited for Missy Elliott to be out on tour, but can you just imagine an AR companion piece for an artist that is already seen in a larger-than-life, sculpted way thanks to previous music videos? That is where the real "out of the world" level would be. In the meantime, read all about Missy's record-breaking feat right here.
4) ICYMI looks like Coachella tix had a "hard" time being sold. Honestly, the prices for these things are just too eye-popping for the target audience. Either more tiers need to be created or more sponsors or lesser levels that are maybe "listening only" areas with Web3 community interaction. But as it stands now, looks like music fans are speaking with their wallets. See the deets right here. However, I am feeling this multiview scenario that will be offered. Not a massive tech lift, but still. Check that out right here.
*** Quick Note: if you are someone who wants to learn more about this powerful space of youth culture and how you can use it to better connect with Gen Z and Millennials and/or become part of the cultural narrative, connect with celebrated recording artists/notables in the space, and/or creates brand?strategy,?DM me to discuss further.
I provide strategy and consulting for demystifying relevant emerging tech, defining the cultural opportunity, and defining a roadmap for the new era.

5) BTW, yet a bit more in summer concert news. That Travis Kelce is just so sports, film, music, no? See the latest on Kelce Jam right here. In addition, I happened to find this economic study on regional impact of J. Cole's "Dreamville Festival" from last year. The numbers are very, very interesting. I'd love to add a forecast on when these festivals do things like include digital merch, on-site AI booths, and more. The additional revenue that could be generated is phenomenal. So important to have a strategy around this area! In the meantime, peep the financials here to get you motivated!
6) Why is Jay-Z's "Made In America" canceled yet again?! Well, because the organizers have said that they are "reimagining it." Hmmm... See what you think by reading the full right here. If this new plan does not include some holograms or something, you already know how I'm gonna feel : -)
7) Finally, so that everything is not about festivals, lol, the Grafitti Museum's "Sneaker Stories" exhibit just jumped off. Word is, they may add an AI surprise to it. Now, that's how you do it! Can't make it? Get the deets right here.
Have a great rest of the week, and see you next issue!!!
