HubSpot’s Product Update - May Edition

Another month, another set of HubSpot updates! This month’s release surprised us with a hefty amount of enhancements and features. AI in content management is very prominent, and the Content Hub in general has been developed greatly. Below is an overview of the changes from all hubs.

Without further ado, let’s review the best of HubSpot’s recent update!

Import an Opt-Out List for a Specific Business Unit

Users can now target a specific business unit when importing an opt-out list. In the past, opt-out lists could only be imported for the default business unit of the account, which created inconvenience for users managing contacts across different business units.

Billing inaccuracies might result from this manual process not being scalable for larger customers. With the new feature, admins can manage all opt-outs in one import, improving efficiency and accuracy in managing contact databases.

Google Enhanced Conversions for Leads

Ad conversion events are enhanced by Google Enhanced Conversions, which improves measurement accuracy and enables stronger bidding. To enhance privacy, it sends hashed first-party customer data to Google using the SHA256 algorithm.

As cookies disappear and ad tracking becomes more limited, advertisers must ensure their conversion data is returned securely, privacy-first, to ad networks. HubSpot will send offline lifecycle stage change data back to Google server side with enhanced conversions.

Clone your Social Posts and Marketing Emails

Marketers can effectively duplicate and customize social posts and marketing emails on mobile devices, boosting productivity and enabling quick content creation on the go. HubSpot Social posts are the only ones that can be created and published with this feature.

Use Case: Social posts and marketing emails can now be easily cloned at any point in the workflow, allowing marketers to create faster content and adjust and customize posts and emails directly from their mobile devices.

Multi Object Preview & Test Send Filters

By using the enhanced preview feature in Marketing Email, users can verify and test personalized elements, tokens, and CRM object information before sending the email. Before publishing a Marketing Email, users can preview and send a test email that contains all CRM object and Custom object personalisation token.

Collaboration Sidebar in the CTAs Tool

The Collaboration sidebar is now integrated into the latest CTAs tool, allowing users to comment on CTAs, create tasks, and view the Marketing Calendar directly within the CTA editor. By enhancing this feature, team members are able to collaborate seamlessly without relying on external platforms, and all context is accessible from within HubSpot.

Use Case: Adding the collaboration sidebar into the CTAs tool allows these conversations to happen seamlessly within HubSpot while holding all relevant context easily accessible when needed.

Converting Landing Pages in Free and Starter Tiers to an Advanced Editing Experience

With this update, HubSpot is making it easier to customize landing pages in the Free and Starter tiers by converting them into having advanced editing functionality, including:

  • Drag and drop access to custom and default modules
  • Add HTML to their Header and Footer
  • Access and make changes to the site source code

The ability to edit the code of a page and custom modules allows users to make finer-tuned changes and add richer content to their landing pages.

LinkedIn CRM Sync

A close partnership between HubSpot and LinkedIn has resulted in the addition of LinkedIn CRM Sync to the HubSpot App Marketplace. Salespeople can gain deeper insights into customers with LinkedIn CRM Sync.

Frontline sales representatives can make sure all their actions are automatically recorded in HubSpot and that their contacts and companies are automatically synced to their Sales Nav book of business by synchronizing data between LinkedIn and HubSpot in the background (watch this demo video).

Custom Lead Properties, Required Lead Properties and Lead Form Customization

Custom properties, HubSpot's most requested feature since launch, are now available!

  • Add custom properties to the lead object
  • Control which properties are required to progress a lead
  • Customize the lead creation form

To capture essential data, streamline lead management, and ensure accurate reporting, customize the lead object by adding specific properties, customizing the lead creation form, and controlling required field.

Connect WhatsApp to Help Desk

Help Desk, HubSpot's new ticket management workspace, is now offering WhatsApp as a channel to provide efficient and empathetic customer service.

Use Case: Providing omni-channel support to customers, wherever and whenever they prefer, is now possible with Help Desk over WhatsApp, a popular instant messaging platform used by more than 2 billion people worldwide, hundreds of millions of whom prefer to contact businesses through the platform.

New Knowledge Base Customization Tools

HubSpot's knowledge base tool gets a slew of new customization features with this update. There has been frustration with HubSpot's knowledge bases for years, especially when compared to website pages and blog posts hosted by HubSpot. There were no simple changes to navigation menu fonts or text alignment, and knowledge bases often did not match the branding of a main website.

AI Chatbot

A seamless GPT-powered chat experience is now available with HubSpot's AI chatbot for Live Chat. Businesses can now deliver personalized responses to their visitors within minutes by using AI Chatbots.

No longer will you have to spend hours crafting and refining rules-based bots. With AI Chatbots handling repetitive tasks seamlessly, your front-office teams will be able to focus on revenue-generating activities. Using built-in guardrails, your AI will respond when it's confident and transfer to a team member when it's no.

Connect HubSpot Tickets to Slack and Sync Replies

Help desk workspaces can now be connected to Slack for cross-collaborative ticket resolution.

Use Case: A collaborative effort is often required to resolve a ticket. The support team frequently collaborates in tools like Slack with colleagues throughout the organization to resolve tickets. The reps need to be able to communicate and collaborate with other internal stakeholders on a real-time basis to resolve issues.

Design update to booking meetings on behalf of other users in the CRM

The design of HubSpot's meeting booking tool has been improved to make the process more efficient. All users and meeting rotations can now be viewed by scrolling and using the "see more" option. It is also possible to search for specific people or meeting rotations. Last but not least, your most recently booked options will now appear at the top of the drop-down menu.

Use Case: You can now easily find and browse all your users and all your meeting rotations without having to use the search function when booking meetings for others through a CRM record. For users that are frequently booking meetings for the same coworkers or using the same meeting rotations, HubSpot has sorted your most recently booked users and rotations to the top of the list, saving you time when finding the right person.

Edit Open Invoices

In the Commerce Hub, Users can now edit invoices that are in "open" status (aka "finalized"). By using this feature, merchants can easily make changes to open invoices, such as correcting errors, updating quantities, adding line items, or including purchase order numbers, without having to void and recreate them.

Accept Partial Payments on Invoices

Also updated in the Commerce Hub, Merchants can now accept multiple partial payment amounts on an invoice (previously, only one payment was accepted, equaling the total amount due). Various payment methods are available for partial payments, and they can be recorded manually or accepted through HubSpot Payments or Stripe.

Use Case: Partial payments are most commonly used when a buyer wants to make payment using two different methods. You might pay $1000 on your credit card for the points, but pay $4000 via check for the remaining $4000 if you purchase tax preparation services for $5000. In this case, we are dealing with a "split tender."

Conditional display logic in CRM Preview sidebar

In the CRM platform, the preview sidebar now supports conditional display logic. Just like the record left sidebar, admins can configure property cards to display only when specific criteria are met. For example, during the "customer" lifecycle stage, the Contact preview would only display the property card.

Bounced Emails No Longer Generate Analytics

When a 1:1 email send bounces, HubSpot will filter out any subsequent open or click activities.

When sending an email to the account of a user who's no longer active at a company, it's possible both for the email to bounce and for there to be an apparent interaction with the email (opens and link clicks) due to the company's email server software scanning the email. A bounced email appears on the contact timeline, activity feed, and reports as an analytics activity. The conflicting information makes it difficult for users to understand the status of prospects or customers.

Customize the Record Page

CRM record pages can now be customized to meet your unique business needs! A number of powerful, yet easy-to-use customization features were released by HubSpot, including a record page editor, card library, card settings, and React UI extensions.

Use Case: CRM record pages are the central working space within HubSpot’s Smart CRM. They house data across the entire data model and present information to users in a specific way. In order to drive efficiency, growth, and a delightful experience, it's vital to be able to customize how information is presented to users.

View exact upcoming release dates in the Product Updates UI

Customers can view their exact release dates for upcoming changes through the Coming Soon tab in the Product Updates UI.

Through the Coming Soon tab in the Product Updates UI, customers can switch from a reactive to a proactive change management approach. Admins can use this resource to prepare, test, update documentation, and integrate new features seamlessly before they go live, improving overall change management.

Multi-language support for AI Assistant in Conversations Inbox

With multi-language support, AI Assistant in Conversations Inbox will automatically detect the language being used in the composer to return AI generated content in that language.

Multi-language support will increase efficiency by returning AI generated content in the Inbox in the language used in the composer.

Risky Permission Removal Wizard

In the risky permission removal wizard, a new security health check recommendation highlights users with risky permissions.

HubSpot administrators sometimes struggle to identify potentially risky user access. To help administrators mitigate security risks, a new feature will identify and recommend removing risky permissions.

Sync Property Type

Sync Properties are a new property type that customers can use to copy a property value across objects. In order to keep two properties synchronized across objects, this feature eliminates the need for manual entry or workflows. Having the data you need when you need it makes it even easier for your customers.

Use Case: By using Sync Properties, admins can say goodbye to painful and time-consuming workarounds. Your data is consistently updated and aligned across objects with this feature, which eliminates cross-object data silos.

Data Trends

Users can now see which common sources are creating, deleting, updating, and merging records with a new chart and table.

Every day, customers receive more data from more sources. At present, it is difficult to identify trends in the creation or updating of records. Because of this, customers cannot answer core questions about their data, such as:

  • How are most of my deals created?
  • What caused so many tickets to get deleted last week?
  • Was there a major spike or dip in my usual update/create volume?

Sync Microsoft Teams Webinars to HubSpot Marketing Events

In HubSpot’s App Marketplace, it's now easier to centralize your marketing efforts, create new contacts, and perform data-driven customer outreach with webinar event and activity data synchronized to HubSpot.

In the past, you may not have been able to import webinar data into HubSpot if you hosted webinars on Microsoft Teams, which made analyzing event performance and contact engagement challenging.
