This weekend we got the message that Huawei sues the Swedish government. Huawei wants SEK 5,2 billion (divide by 10 for Euro) to cover damages when they could not participate in the 5G-auctions. The sum could increase to up to 40 billion and should cover damage caused in 2021-2025. Read about it here, or why not read my blog post? It is the Chinese fault, or?
IoT and the 90s…?
Some claim IoT is more than 100 years old. Let us check in on that at another point in time. But there are some significant milestones to remember from the 90s. Google was founded. The internet took off. The cellular networks were introduced. And perhaps most important, the term the internet of things was introduced.
The 90s have had a massive impact on the coming 5G and IoT rollouts. The 90s contributed with many innovative things that impact our lives today. Google was founded; that is one essential thing. Windows was introduced. When it comes to the Internet of Things, three important milestones from the 90s are super important today.

Cyberattacks on IoT are increasing.
In a world where more and more systems are connected, the risk of cyber-attacks against critical infrastructure increases. Sweden is a country with a lot of nature and relatively accessible public networks. With the ease of connecting almost everything today, the risk is that security takes a back seat, and we open the back door to the wrong visitors.
Thousands of IoT attacks every day
Every week we are exposed to 100,000 cyberattacks in Sweden alone. In the first half of 2021 alone, there were 1.5 billion attacks on IoT devices, and this trend will not slow down on its own. There are plenty of examples of attacks in the present day.
The process industry accounts for almost half of Sweden’s net exports. With the advent of the internet of things, the process industry is moving from monitoring and controlling its processes to ensuring that different systems and functions interact. New ways of working require new technology and new security solutions.
So what can you do to protect your organisation? It is rather an endless battle, but I share some more thoughts and facts in my personal blog
That′s it for this week, this is a test run for me, so hopefully, we will see continuance. Have a great week!
