Huawei: Net5.5G Application Deployment Achieves Remarkable Progress, Inspiring Carrier's New Growth

PARIS, April 2024 — Huawei recently hosted the IP GALA Summit with the theme “Bring Net5.5G into Reality, Inspire New Growth” during the MPLS SD & AI Net World Congress 2024. This summit brought together industry experts, carriers, standards organizations, and industry leaders to discuss critical topics related to Net5.5G deployment, scenario innovation, and target network architecture.

Here are the key highlights from the summit:

Net5.5G Converged Transport Deployment:

  • Leading carriers, including vivo Brazil, Telecom Argentina, and Algeria Telecom, shared their live-network applications and innovative practices related to key technologies such as 400GE, SRv6, slicing, and Network Digital Map in Net5.5G converged transport scenarios.
  • This indicates that Net5.5G converged transport is being deployed at a faster pace, supporting carriers’ new service growth.
  • Carriers recognize the need to build a Net5.5G target network to support 10 Gbps connections for home broadband, mobile broadband, enterprise private lines, and enterprise campus services.

Ultra-Broadband Applications and Challenges:

  • New ultra-broadband applications are continuously emerging, presenting both opportunities and challenges for carriers.
  • Immersive applications, industry digitalization, cloudification, and AI applications are driving the growth of global ultra-broadband connections and bandwidth.

WBBA’s Net5.5G Initiative:

  • The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBBA) raised the Net5.5G initiative, focusing on 10 Gbps campus networks with Wi-Fi 7, 400GE converged IP transport, and hyper-converged data center networks for the period 2025-2030.

Carrier Success Stories:

  • vivo, a leading carrier in Latin America, completed multi-vendor interoperability of SRv6 and successfully deployed it on the live network in Brazil. This deployment, along with other Net5.5G technologies, will enhance 5G service experiences.
  • Telecom Argentina deployed 400GE on its backbone network to support the Telecom Argentina deployed 400GE on its backbone network to support the growth of 5G and home broadband services.

Huawei’s commitment to Net5.5G underscores its dedication to advancing digital connectivity and productivity globally. The convergence of ultra-broadband technologies and innovative practices is shaping the future of telecommunications.
