Huawei 100 KW UPS Power Module: Innovative Patents Enable a Compact Size
Recently, Huawei launched an all-new UPS power module. This product enables the power density of a single module to reach 100 kW/3 U, which is twice the industry standard. Huawei's FusionPower2.0 data center power supply and distribution solution is based on the 100 kW module, and it achieves the "one megawatt, one cabinet" principle, with a footprint that is more than halved compared with the traditional end-to-end parallel solution. The power supply and distribution system leaves more space for data center cabinets, enabling customers to increase revenue.
100 kW in 3 U, one megawatt in one cabinet. How does Huawei achieve such ultra-high density? At the technology demystification meeting for ultra-high-density UPS modules on # Σ00 Time #, Dong Han, Director of Huawei Data Center Facility Solution Marketing Support Department, explained how Huawei reduced the size of UPS modules.
——How is the size reduced?——
Huawei's innovative patents help develop more compact blade-level power modules.
1. Topology pooling patent, reducing the size by 40%
In the traditional topology, the AC/DC circuit and the charger/discharger DC/DC circuit are separated and controlled by high-frequency switch components (zero switching). Therefore, the DC/DC circuit has to be very large. The design idea of Huawei topology pooling is to multiplex the DC/DC charger and rectifier topology.
2. Magnetic integration patent, reducing the inductor size by 20%
Magnetic integration reduces the size of inductors in the rectifier and inverter. The technology contributes to a 20% decrease of inductor size. Compared with traditional inductors that are standalone, the integrated inductors meet the requirements while reducing the size.
——Smaller size means higher value——
Huawei's FusionPower2.0 data center power supply and distribution solution is based on the 100 kW module, and achieves the "one megawatt, one cabinet" principle. The solution uses only 12 power modules to build a 1200 kVA system. The FusionPower 1200 kVA solution requires only one input cabinet, two UPS cabinets, and one output cabinet, compared with a traditional solution that uses two input cabinets, four UPS cabinets, and two output cabinets to deliver equivalent performance. The cabinet quantity decreases from eight to four, saving more than 50% space.
For the ISP industry, more service space means higher revenue. For example, if 10 sets of Huawei 1200 kVA FusionPower2.0 are deployed, 40 cabinets can be saved, bringing an additional revenue of about US$562,161 to ISP customers each year.
Each product launch and transformation relies on advanced technologies. For Huawei, every technical innovation meets customer demands, and investment in each technology aims to deliver better customer experience while promoting business success.
