The work to set up the HIV Trust Fund of Nigeria started in December 2020, we had the formal launch on 1st February 2022 and on 1st December 2022, we launched the Trust Fund’s Online Donation Portal.
Kindly click on the attached link and donate. I also appeal that you reach out to your friends, family and colleagues to donate as well (it will help if you pin this post to your wall and share as far and wide as possible) and if you are an entrepreneur, or in a position to take the decision to donate in the organisation where you work, to kindly pitch this initiative to the approval authority in your organisation to donate.
I have attached a video explaining why the HIV Trust Fund of Nigeria is imperative to all Nigerians at this point in time (kindly view).
Below is our story in a nutshell.
Every 30 minutes, a child is born with HIV in Nigeria.??
1 out of every 7 infants born with HIV in the world is born in Nigeria.?
This is over 20,000 infants born HIV positive every year.?
The underlying reason is because in the absence of intervention, the rate of transmission of HIV from a mother living with HIV to her child during pregnancy, labour, delivery, or breastfeeding ranges from 15% to 45%. Nigeria has unfortunately been unable to fund the HIV screening of all pregnant women in Nigeria attending antenatal care services (as the first visit in that pregnancy) as well as pregnant women presenting at labour and delivery settings (like Traditional Birth Attendants -TBA) without previous antenatal care service utilization.?
The challenge is mainly about program funding.??
Inadequate funding will erode the gains we have made over the last 20 years in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Because people living with HIV require ART for the rest of their lives, to end AIDS and stop HIV within a generation, we must eradicate the mother-to-child transmission of the virus.??
Many pregnant women in Nigeria do not attend formal birth centres or even get the opportunity to be screened for HIV. The HIV Trust Fund of Nigeria will provide resources to cater for these women across the country.?
The Trust Fund needs more investments in HIV Test kits to provide screening for all pregnant women who present at both formal and informal birth delivery centres.?
We need funding to ensure that every single pregnant woman who tests positive is placed on anti-retroviral therapy (ART).??
We need funding to ensure that all HIV Exposed Infants (HEI) are provided enhanced Post-Natal Prophylaxis at birth to prevent HIV.?

A $1 or N750 donation to the HIV Trust Fund of Nigeria means that we can procure one additional HIV Test kit to screen one additional pregnant woman, ?3,750 Support will give us 5 HIV Test Kits.
A N50,000 donation to the HIV Trust Fund of Nigeria means that we can provide a year-long ART for a HIV positive pregnant woman and minimize the chances of her transmitting the virus to her unborn child. ?12,500 Support will give us 3 months Anti-retroviral therapy.
But please do not limit yourself to the aforementioned amounts as the total funding required for the proposed interventions is US$150 Million over the next 5 years.?
Rest assured that every Naira you donate to the HIV Trust Fund of Nigeria can help eradicate mother to child transmission of HIV in Nigeria.?
This is a collective Nigerian cause.???
