HTCS Irvin John Adam "Bo" Treadway, Jr., (1961 - 1997)

There are those mentors and friends that leave a mark on your life. They transform and inspire. One such person for me was Bo Treadway. He pinned my Crab (EOD Badge) when I graduated. His passion for giving back to our EOD community inspired and influenced me.

Our last night. Bo and his wife Lynn shared a Limo with a group of us attending the 1997 EOD Ball. We all had a great evening; Bo spoke at the Ball about the EOD scholarship and the successful fund raising for the year. He was in his element. It was a wonderful evening. The next day we lost Bo who had pre-existing issues from a car accident. A real tragedy. I know Bo would want me to tell you that there is no better day than today to make a commitment and change someone else’s life.

Earlier in the same year Bo organize EOD half-marathon to raise funds for the EOD scholarship. It was this event that Bo and I became friends as he ran me around Maryland to gather up supplies. We were short on fruit, water and power drinks. I was ready to dig into my pocket when he said, “What are you thinking knuckle-head. Go put your uniform on and go out into the community and trust in the Organization (Navy) and communicate how their contribution is needed and how every little contribution is paid forward 10x. Trust me they will give you what we need.“ I took the day off and when I was done we had everything we needed and more. It was the beginning of how I get here, talking to you about paying forward. I just needed Bo’s guidance and encouragement.

Please post your own photos and comments regarding Bo and I will update and edit this article.

Today we are asking that you trust Bo and I and understand we need your help more than ever. This week Our goal is for five people to help memorialize Bo’s contribution to EOD and support Challenge Run2022Miles4EODWF. (Completed in 2022)

Bo was one of my instructors at EOD school. He had a way about him that drew people to him because of his attitude and energy. He was a mentor, leader and a person you knew you could rely on. He is still missed to this day. RIP brother. I am proud to be in the same community as he chose to be his.
