HT4M as a Social Experiment

HT4M as a Social Experiment

Happy 58th Birthday to Medicaid! Just as this vital program began as a social experiment to provide comprehensive healthcare, so did Health Tech for Medicaid (HT4M) embark on its journey as a bold experiment to drive innovation within the Medicaid landscape. As we celebrate nearly 5 years of impactful work, we reflect on our role as a protector and advocate for innovation in a dynamic and challenging environment.

For nearly half a decade, our policy advocacy has been the backbone of our mission to ensure that Medicaid remains a cornerstone of affordable, comprehensive health coverage. We've bridged innovation gaps, weaving together the threads of innovation to better serve children, pregnant individuals, older adults, and those with disabilities.

In our pursuit of high-impact outcomes, we've learned that achieving real social change requires collaboration beyond our own walls. HT4M is a catalyst for the kind of transformative change that emerges when diverse stakeholders—nonprofits, government, and for-profit businesses—unite to design innovative solutions together.

As we gear up for our 5th-anniversary season this November, we're excited to unveil a lineup of engaging events and activations. We've reached out to our members and partners for a collective recommitment, seeking to build a stronger foundation for our shared mission. From our signature event, the?"Future of Medicaid Innovation Forum," ?to educational programs like?HT4M 101 , we're thrilled to share our journey and impact with you.

Our work extends far beyond what you see on the surface. Just as an iceberg's true power lies beneath, our initiatives like?"Venture for Medicaid" ?and educational campaigns bring about substantial change. The magic of HT4M isn't confined to healthcare—it's a movement that resonates across the nation, affecting real lives through economic prosperity.

We're inviting you to join us, whether it's diving into our?Determined to Redetermine series , participating in our?educational programs , or becoming part of our cornerstone event,?"The Future of Medicaid Innovation Forum" ?at JPM. Our work is more than a mission; it's a connection to a purpose that touches countless lives. Last year's JPM event, despite a torrential storm, brought together hundreds of engaged minds at the SF Playhouse, demonstrating the force of our united community.

As we journey into our 5th year, we look forward to expanding our impact, broadening our reach, and creating lasting change. Together, we are pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the healthcare ecosystem, guided by our unwavering commitment to quality, equity, and access for all.

Thank you for being part of this transformative movement.

With unwavering determination,

Adimika Arthur

Recap: Determined to Redetermine with Lisa Bari

On July 13th, we?held the latest installment of our webinar series "Determined to Redetermine," highlighting the role of interoperability in Medicaid Redetermination. The webinar featured Lisa Bari, CEO of?Civitas Networks for Health , and?explored the challenges, benefits, and potential of leveraging interoperable systems for efficient and accurate redetermination processes.

Here's a quick recap of the webinar's highlights:

  • Role of Interoperability:?Interoperability plays a critical role in facilitating timely communication and data sharing between Medicaid agencies, providers, and stakeholders during the redetermination process. It enables comprehensive data exchange, addresses procedural and structural challenges, and supports determinants of health.
  • Areas Supported by Interoperability: Interoperability promotes efficient and effective communication by addressing technical and organizational challenges. It facilitates data sharing between agencies, ensures eligibility verification, enables care coordination, and supports basic comprehensive healthcare. This?fosters a more efficient, accurate, and person-centered redetermination process, ultimately improving the overall quality of care and health outcomes for Medicaid beneficiaries
  • Reducing Administrative Burdens:?Interoperability contributes to simplifying the redetermination process for both Medicaid beneficiaries and providers. Prompting individuals who haven't had screenings, leveraging existing trust relationships, and engaging with partners invested in the community are some strategies to reduce administrative burdens.
  • Challenges in Obtaining and Communicating Data:?Data disaggregation and the need for authorization to share data pose challenges. Engagement with states, addressing governance rights, and understanding barriers related to legal and political aspects are necessary for obtaining and communicating data effectively.
  • Partnership Potential:?Maximizing partnerships involves tapping into shared resources, knowledge, and community support to navigate Medicaid Redetermination more efficiently.?Building upon existing relationships with trusted healthcare providers, community organizations, and stakeholders fosters effective data sharing, seamless communication, and streamlined experiences for Medicaid beneficiaries. By leveraging?partnerships, we can?promote efficient collaboration and?eliminate the need to start from scratch, ultimately reducing administrative burdens.
