The HR World stared out of the window at the snow steadily falling outside ???
The HR World
A unique network of HR professionals aimed at furthering the future of work
It was that time of year again. Seems to come round quicker every year – or maybe that’s just because The HR World was a year older now. Time being relative and therefore speeding up over… anyway. It was snowing. ???
This marked the season that always comes before Advent which comes before Christmas which comes before New Year. ’Tis The Season of Cliché.
Already comments had been passed on how treacherous the roads would be. How we’d never get back home to see our loved ones. How the kids would be happy – apart from those who habitually left the house without gloves or sometimes a coat.
Comments had also gone by over how it was time to put the central heating on (at last), how this happened earlier every year, the probability of global warming and several consequential clichés around the political state of the world.
Opening the email in-box The Season of Cliché continued. Commentary abounded on the legal position of getting into work when it’s snowing, how cold it has to be before you can refuse to work, why hybrid working is re-emerging because, well, you know, snow.
Alongside this now is also the time for asking after next year’s forward feature list (it was ready a few weeks ago, tick!) whether we’re going to do a review of the year (check out the webinar listings, tick!) https://www.thehrworld.co.uk/hr-events/webinars/
and if we’re interested in someone’s predictions about what 2025 will bring for HR (maybe, depends who they are, what they’re saying, how much they believe it and whether it’s going to make everyone’s life considerably easier or harder).
In an uncertain world, these stories and requests provide a little comfort and even joy. The world turns, the website refreshes, the first snow falls and HR turns its attention to making sure the office/works party goes off trouble free. The Season of Cliché is a time to look back and forward, to reward and to outline improvements. It’s not quite the most wonderful time of the year but it’s reasonably close, time wise and spiritually.

5 天前I'm keen to see if others are having data quality issues in HR. I've just completed a HR transformation and found that the company, because I joined late, was going to move bad data into the new system. They thought, till i advised them of what I can do, there was no time to manually go through over 1,000 employee records to make changes. Thing is the data being bad was delaying the project progressing into testing. So I step in and do a very short demo using a file of similar data isseus they were having. a totally made up file but it had all the address all over the place, missing data and a few other issues. Turns out it took me 4 minutes ot profile that data and took me 23 minutes to make a start on the cleanse. It went form looking at the data line by line and field by field to answering do you want street spelled out or abbv.? County and city in the right fields? Names spelt properly, positions complete for everyone? A few minor questions that once known, took 5 minutes to update ALL EMPLOYEES at once. Don't delay your project or suffer with your data issues anymore. Quick call to discuss.
