Allgo has just published their 3rd annual HR Trends Report, and without doubt it's the most interesting one yet.
Based on a survey of 249 HR Leaders and Senior HR Managers, the report highlights the challenges and trends in HR for 2021.
What's really interesting in this year's survey is how much the world of work has permanently changed because of COVID-19, and how the focus has dramatically shifted for HR Professionals.
So what has changed? What's in store for HR in 2021?
Well, first and foremost, the survey clearly shows that Remote Working and Hybrid Working are here to stay.
HR Professionals' main challenge this year will be to put the policies and systems in place to make this new way of working function. And while this is happening, the Health & Wellbeing of employees – not least their Mental Health – will be the overriding concern for HR.
There is a still lot to be figured out with the changing workplace - from developing permanent remote/hybrid work policies, to moving Learning & Development online, to managing performance remotely, to the practicalities of any (even partial) return to the office.
Employee Retention is now much more of a challenge than recruitment - how to retain staff in a world where employees don't even need to leave their home to change jobs. And part of that challenge is the need to keep employees engaged and to maintain a cohesive company culture.
Leadership and Work/Life Balance are the top factors for retention. Pay has diminished dramatically in importance, and in fact wage inflation will be very minimal in 2021 at just 1.5%.
There has been a dramatic uptick in both the number of companies offering Reward & Recognition (91%), and in the variety of programmes being run – from New Baby Gifts, and CV Referrals to Service Awards and Performance Incentives. More Irish companies than ever are availing of the €500 Small Benefit Scheme to reward employees tax-free.
While some focus will be taken off initiatives like Diversity & Inclusion in 2021, the good news is that no one is predicting a harsh economic downturn post-pandemic.
