I am really looking forward to HR Tech World Congress in Palais des Congrès, Paris next week . This is the 4th year and with 4,000 attendees and has grown exponentially from the first events in Amsterdam. I am on the BlogSquad, so give me a shout if you are in Paris. I wanted to share some of the things I am looking forward to…..
Discover the next Workday or LinkedIn
I am moderating part of the disruptHR sessions on Tuesday which is a real honour, as these sessions are often my favourite of the whole conference. This is a chance for one of the finalists to win a Sponsorship Package for €20,000. A bit like Dragons Den for HR Start-ups, without the blank looks when Peter Jones asks about last years revenues. Faye Holland has done a great job of interviewing the finalists in this post which is worth a look. Will we find the next Workday or LinkedIn? As Gareth points out in his article, The future of HR Tech: #BYOP – Bring Your Own Portal, even the new kid on the block, Workday, is 10 this year. Will one of these startups disrupt HR? C’est possible…
Cloud adoption and change management
Cloud-based tools enable more experimentation and quicker implementations. This gives us new opportunities in change management, McKinsey outline some benefits in their article, Changing Change Management. However we still have to persuade those pesky humans to work differently. I am very keen to see whether there is innovation not only in the tools, but also in how we deploy them. If you are thinking of moving HR to the cloud, you better read this first, How to Earn your HR Cloud Tattoo.
Artificial Intelligence and robotic automation
Last year, Oracle brought their robot, Oscar, who I was very fond of and I am sure this year IBM will tap into Watson's artificial brain. I will be looking for examples of automation and use of Artificial Intelligence to solve business problem….but just don’t mention the robots……
Use of social sensing technology
I am reading a book by Ben Waber, People Analytics. This points out how HR often uses data from self-reported surveys rather than much stronger actual behavioural data. With some ethical issues to resolve, using sensors in the workplace has the potential to be huge in people management.
Ressources Humaines
With many French organisations attending and presenting, including L’Oreal, Estee Lauder & Chanel to name a fashionable trio. I am interested to hear about the gallic view on the philosophical and practical issues in Human Resources or Ressources Humaines. Yves Morieux from BCG will be providing one of the keynote speeches, which will be insightful as always.
HR Tech Influencers Analyst Panel
This panel at 2.30pm on Tuesday, is with industry leaders :- Josh Bersin, Naomi Bloom, Phil Wainewright and Holger Mueller. Will they be in general agreement and agree on the key trends and or will they lay into the sacred industry cows? I am hoping for some HR Tech fireworks – let’s wait and see!
Finally, I am very keen to hear from Richard Branson – what is his perspective on People Management in the 2015 ?
