HR lessons from the Desi Scamming World: No joke!

HR lessons from the Desi Scamming World: No joke!

LEARN FROM SCAMMERS. ?? Curious? Read on and know why!

For those who follow Karl Rock ("the NZ gora in India" as oft called), here is an interesting video from his series on Indian cyber scammers series. Do watch before you go on to read: https://youtu.be/TAeIkc39tDU

For those who look for it, even this video houses a lot of HR managment gyan that will leave you spellbound.

1. Do notice how even an underground scammer gang focuses on smooth onboarding and initial training of the guy for the work tasks - complete with a proper 'Scam Script'!. This is pretty interesting in contrast to some major MNCs lacking a system of having smooth onboarding and induction of employees into their roles. (Talk about companies still struggling with the first-90-days model!)

2. The focus on scammer's motivation is pretty as much as they do on training and achieving "sales targets". While a regular executive HR would call employee motivation an essential to ensure engagement and culture, what could be the purpose to have a scammer motivated in his task in an underground call centre?

3. Scammer's understand Human psychology and Employee behaviours: Be it a scammer or a white collar worker, routine tasks, rejections and work pressure would demotivate you anyway. Everyone needs encouragement to not hate their job!

4. Attrition in a scamming industry could have its costs but also its risks. While modern companies may only be bothered of 'loss of knowledge' or cite its attrition as a 'healthy attrition' based on single digit numbers, loss of even a single scammer in this business would mean an expose and all the scampony staff landing in jail.

5. Costs of a hire: Imagine the pain of scouting people who fit the job! Even if it may start with a false job posting, think about the uncertainty of candidate continuing post his moment of truth of the 'business objective'.

6. While it definitely is a need for money and lack of jobs that would attract youth to this scamming world, the scammers leave no scope to give them the feeling of this being A PROPER REGULAR JOB! - all with its induction, trainings, lunch breaks, and staff bonding.

Now that's something that we gotta learn about, and learn from.

Also, the last learning:

7. Scammers are just like real job hustlers who don't really dress up in black with matrix-themed visual screens running in the background. Stereotype-busting afterall is a major HR concern! ??
