October has been an extremely busy month for Aurora with us hosting and speaking at various in-person events for Word Mental Health Day and Black History Month including the Make A Difference Summits (MAD World) Summit in London, the She Leads For Legacy ‘Empowered to Lead’ Conference and TheBusinessDesk.com Breakfast Roundtable with Addleshaw Goddard , in Manchester.
As we come to the end of Black History Month, it’s clear that there’s still work to be done to help organisations understand the unique challenges that their Black employees face when it comes to mental health and wellbeing, that’s required to attract top diverse talents in the Food Production Industry.
The reasons behind mental health stigma within Black communities are nuanced and complex but need to be understood if workplaces are going to create psychologically safe environments for all employees.
Here are some statistics to think about...
According to the MHFA England Race Equity Impact 2021 report:
Mental health initiatives typically have a one-or-two-sizes-fits-all approach. Yet, we know that many Black colleagues and employees don’t experience the world the same way their white colleagues do, so it’s important to tailor mental health to individuals, which coincidentally was this year's theme for World Mental Health Day.
