The HP Way!

Recently, I had the privilege of visiting universities where we embarked on a mission to hire and empower students from humble backgrounds. In a world brimming with technological advancements and innovation, it's easy to overlook the profound impact of opportunities on the lives of those less fortunate. This endeavor not only showcased their unwavering humility but also demonstrated their eagerness to embrace the values of the HP Way even before they could join us.

This experience coincided with the book I was recommended to read. From the moment I started reading, it was clear to me that what I see here daily while working is that everyone here walks and talks the values set by its founders since its inception. I connected the book with the hiring experience we provided along with my dear colleague Pradeep P , I connected it with my experience in this beautiful organization and realized, HP is always doing something which is of value and the university hiring program in India conducted for FY2022 and FY2023 showcased exactly that.

We connected with people who come from various backgrounds, who have grown with values like ours already inculcated in their blood and now, as for me, 1 year, 5 months and 24 days later, I have fallen in love with this company watching my leaders portray integrity in their actions, and the fact that their constant commitment to inclusivity impresses me.

This is the second year now that we are hiring students from suburban universities for our requirements in HP. Our journey began by venturing into universities known for their dedication to providing quality education to students coming from infamous backgrounds. What struck me immediately was the humility and determination radiating from these young minds. Their eagerness to excel, despite facing numerous challenges, was truly inspirational.

During our interactions with the students, it became apparent that they held a deep-seated appreciation for the opportunity to prove themselves. These students understood that hard work and dedication were their tickets to a brighter future, and their desire to learn and grow was palpable. Money alone was not their goal. One of the students I interacted with had researched so much into HP’s R&D business that he knew exactly what to deliver once he joined us. I was impressed to see the talent that came from regions less explored and appreciated.

We witnessed the students' innovative spirit as they tackled problems with fresh perspectives. Their creativity was not just a desirable trait but an essential asset to HP. Discovering these hidden gems was the highlight of my year.

While reading the book I realized, we showcased our HP way in action in everything we do. Our commitment to inclusiveness goes beyond words; it's a set of actions that underpin our hiring process. We believe in providing equal opportunities to individuals from all walks of life, irrespective of who you are and where you are from. This belief is firmly rooted in the HP Way's core values.

While speaking to the hires from last year, I was overjoyed to see the transformation in the lives of these students. Their journey from being timid, fearful to becoming integral parts of the HP family was a testament to the power of the HP Way. They found not just jobs but a sense of purpose, and in doing so, they carried forward the values of innovation, trust, integrity, and community involvement.

My recent visit to universities where we hired students from suburban areas was a poignant reminder of the transformative power of opportunity. These young individuals exemplified the humility and eagerness that the HP Way values so dearly. By opening our doors to a diverse range of talents, we are not only fostering innovation but also making a difference in the lives of those who deserve it the most. This is the HP Way in action, and it's a testament to our commitment to building a better future, one opportunity at a time.
