I'm currently en route to Texas to attend the Houston Rodeo with five of my best college girlfriends. I'm already tapping my toes to “Texas Hold 'Em” and have a feeling that song will get a lot of airtime this weekend (and you already know it’s number one on this month’s playlist!). ?
This time last week, I was reviewing my notes and catching my breath after Social Media Marketing World, a three-day social media conference. The speakers went beyond the basics and offered high-level strategies. While it's difficult to condense everything into three takeaways, here’s my attempt:
- Always have an objective or goal for social media. This means understanding why you're on social media—is it for engagement, growth, sales, leads, or driving traffic? If you don't know why your business or brand is posting on social media, then you won't know what KPIs to track and how to know if your content is aligned with your goals.
- Use AI as a collaborative tool. Use AI to your advantage. Leverage it to become 10x better at your tasks. Utilize it to enhance your marketing, storytelling, and communication skills.
- Engagement is key to brand awareness and community growth.Here are some of my favorite engagement hacks:Share content that starts a discussion in the commentsFind ways to message your audience in the DMsUse features that were created for your followers (stories, broadcasts, lives, etc.)Watch stories of people that liked your last post and comment on their storiesEngage with hashtags in your nicheSpend time replying to comments left on your posts
