How Zoom Is Helping The World Transition During COVID-19
Zoom is definitely a platform everyone has been hearing about lately. As a university student myself, I have recently discovered Zoom and have been using it frequently for classes and meetings. It is a useful tool in many different situations, and they have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic in amazing ways.
On their website, they have responded effectively by providing information on how to navigate privacy and security concerns as it has become a rising issue. In addition, because they are aware that many schools are utilizing their platform for virtual learning, Zoom has decided to remove their 40-minute meeting limit and it is now free for schools (Hessekiel, 2020). Because many students and parents are not familiar with online learning, Zoom has managed to find a way to help them navigate the platform easily by providing useful tips and tricks for unfamiliar people.
What amazes me the most is how quickly doctors, specialists, and other healthcare professionals have transitioned into the online environment. Zoom has come up with a confidential and secure way for the healthcare community to diagnose and treat patients remotely. I have seen this firsthand as many of the physicians I work with at Vancouver General Hospital have transitioned into this platform.
Although the future is unpredictable, we are fortunate that companies like Zoom have found ways to help the world transition during this trying time.
