How Your Weirdness Can Make You More Sales ??

Heeyy, it's Monday!
I saw some whales swimming around off Ipanema beach on Saturday
They were flippin' around and flappin' their tails and blowin' water out their blowholes like a bunch o'…
ANIMALS!
They were upside down, right side up, and mingling together in all the different sorts of positions possible
This kinda nature got me thinking about marketing, and got me thinking about..
YOU!
And what position you like to be in...
The bottom, or top?!
Because if you want top positioning in your market, meaning you're not competing on price like those other industry clones with atrophied creative-thinking flippers,
You've gotta STAND OUT!
…Now here's the best part about standing out.. it's actually easy to do
The bulk of it requires not needing to change, but to highlight who you already are!
As defined by marketing expert Roman Kmenta in his book, The Market Positioning Book (highly recommend it):
"Your positioning answers the question of what you stand for, and above all, what you don't stand for"
For example, here are some of mine:
1. Being the "Industry Rebel"
2. Creating long form content (like this newsletter)
3. Sharing my love for DM marketing
4. Using Direct Response style marketing rather than "pretty stuff"
These are a few of my "signature moves" so to speak
Yet take note, I'm not doing them just for the sake of being different
I do them because they're what I like
(That's "I" with a capital "I")
Most don't have unique market positioning because it's scary to do things differently
It can make you think, "What if I'm wrong?" "What everyone else is doing seems to be the safest route to success"
The counterintuitive reality however, is that differentiation is what sells best
The other reality is that what "works" in marketing, is infinite
As long as your have solid marketing principles present in your business, you can mix and match the strategies that work best for you
That's why I'm here teaching you how to think about marketing, not how to "do it"
So, the best advice I can give for being more attractive to your market is to do what in your bones you feel is best to do.
For example, I've tried many times to create short, punchy, posts, but just can't find myself to be happy about it
It's not that I can't do it, but everytime I try, I just keep… writing
This is not to say I actually hate and loathe short posts (that would be dumb), and it's not to say that I won't/ and don't, ever do them

In fact, I'm probably missing out on a lot of impressions, engagement, and sales because I don't
But they're not my style
And if I'm gonna create a piece of content, I go in with the mentality of:
"How can I create a masterpiece?" "How can I create something amazing that's going to give my people a lot of value today and make them feel good?"
So there's another bit of counter-to-the-norm differentiation about me:
I like all of my content to be high quality, and worth your time.
I don't like that it takes longer to create
But the idea of posting AI "assisted" pump and dump "20-pieces-of-content-done-in-10 minutes" kind of stuff just isn't possible for me
Positioning isn't all touchy feely stuff, here are some more concrete examples for you:
The more niched you are, the more uniquely positioned you are
For example:
...Redbull positioned itself differently when they said, "It gives you wings"
...A favorite that's found in Donald Miller's book, Story Branding is, "The leader that everyone loves"
You could also be, "The industry's best kept secret"
…For now, think about what is common in your industry, that you don't agree with, or that you do differently…
Whatever that is, talk about it, talk about why you do it different and why everyone else is wrong!
It's gonna be fun!
You'll be seen not as just an expert, but a personality..
When you're seen as a personality, and someone with unique opinions, then your audience will grow a strong liking to you, even if they don't agree with everything you say
You will win respect
And when it's time for someone to buy, you think they're gonna go talk to one of those AI clone meat-factory marketers?
Hell no!
They'll be positioning themselves right up on next to YOU
So let's sum up the benefits of what stronger positioning will do for you:
1. You have more fun
2. You make way more sales
Simple as that
I recommend you read "The Marketing Positioning Book: 500+ creative ideas on how to easily find your Unique Selling Proposition and clearly differentiate from Competition", by Roman Kmenta??
There's lots of gold in there
I've already read it though, so how about this:
If I put together a google doc summary of the different ways you can position yourself plus examples from the book, would you want it?
